Rules suck, but if you don't have some kind of plan your collection runs amok. My rule is 1 example per caliber, and it's time to cull the herd. First up is this sweet, near mint, stainless steel front loading (monocoque) Omega Constellation. Desmond has written many articles on collecting Constellations:

This watch is powered by an automatic caliber 564, regarded as the best of that era. I shot a few different lighting situations to give a good idea of the exact condition of the watch.

It's sad to let it go, but it's competing with a 14ct 168.005 caliber 564 shown next to it in this photo.

Add to that the .005 is from my birthyear and it became a logical, but not easy, decision. I just put a fresh black strap on it too - not a leather imitation croc pattern, a genuine croc strap.

....and I've saved the best for last - it was just serviced in March and will come with the balance of the two year warranty.

Check out these timing results! 馃憤

I've had interest but no commitment so this is getting one bump with a price reduction to $825. With the escalating prices of ANY Constellation nowadays this is pretty cheap considering it runs better than most new watches and is completely authentic & correct. Then add the warranty left of a year and a half and this is a steal. Next stop is eBay - and the way the Asian market is snatching these 564's up the Buy It Now will be a hundred or two higher than what's listed here for forum members. Well, the eBay buyer reneged. Don't get me started on that, but his loss could be your gain - now $750 for the next few days until I get it to a shop to go on consignment. Last call!

Did you end up selling it on ebay?

No, I ended up in a dispute with eBay - they want me to pay all the fees even though the watch was returned. I refused to pay them. The watch was sold privately back in December of last year.

I thought only buying through E Bay was problematic.
I am interested in purchasing my first vintage omega. .
I inherited one from my Grandfather but it was stolen about 20 years ago (a late 1950's manual wind seamaster).
Would like something from the late 50's to early 70's auto with a 5xx or 7xx series caliber.
This would have been perfect, beautiful condition and good price too.
I am based in New Zealand so the internet is my only real option, but E Bay seems like a minefield.
