The pert rear of the 1750 Spider Veloce...

All I need is a matching numbers 1968 transitional Speedy ;-)

I'm thinking a gold Seemaster is more in line with the Alfa. A versatile watch with both sporting and dressy parts and still a fantastically capable everyday meet-all-comers piece that doesn't look too out of place anywhere 馃榾

When I was a kid we had a red Alfa Sud Sprint, it was a leftover car from the Giocattolo project in Brisbane which turned the front wheel drive Sprints into 5.0L mid-engined V8 super cars with Kevlar panels.

Probably not many of these in Europe or the US but one of the fastest Italian cars of the 1980s.

It was actually designed by a McLaren F1 engineer and so has a lot of the tech he was familiar with including the engine being part of the suspension and using double wishbones all around.

errrrr excuse me Peemacgee since when were piepans part of your collecting endeavours? The one on your wrist looks like a new acquisition!

I had it for some time - and have just the one !

I keep it in the UK (so don't see it very often)

Seemed fitting to pair it with the Alfa for the day...

The 4c was fabulous but as someone posted - it's a 3rd car at best as you can't use it as an every day driver

Oh OK Philip, you are excused. Nice to see your piepan all the same! Yep its a 3rd car. My little Lotus Elise S1 served the same purpose for 2 years in the late 90's. The rear of the Alfa reminded me of it.... sigh.

Fantastic car - VERY special! I remember the one that a member of the Brisbane Alfa Club brought to a meeting - what a sound!

Yikes! No Alfa ever deserved having that sort of messing done to it . . . except, maybe, a 1.3 Arna, (but they weren't really Alfas anyway.)

The bodywork was necessary to properly cool and allow air intake into the mid-mounted engine, but this is an Alfa with a 1080KG kerb weight, 300-400hp (one 1200hp turbo ended up being built too that crashed killing the driver) and critically with its F1 inspired chassis and enormous tyres could out handle anything of its era, this thing was a 930 killer.

Sadly we've lost a few of them now to massive racing accidents

It's maybe time a reconnaissance party was sent down to this 'Australia' place and an assessment made as to whether a civilising project is feasible!

This thread reminds me of an Alfa Romeo 33 cloverleaf I had for a while when I lived in Milan. It was given to me by a friend and after a month I discovered he didn't actually own it.
