As Porsche's seem to feature a lot in this thread - here are the 3 that I have owned over the years...
1976 Carerra 3.0 - delivered new to Australia (one of about 400 in RHD). Had been played with a bit, but had her back to original factory condition when was hit head on back in 2001. That she was in such nice condition saved our lives (photos are very low res...)

On a brighter note I had a 1962 356B race car for a few years - eventually sold back the the US where I had picked her up from already in race spec - to compete in the La Carrera PanAmericana...

And lastly a 1992 968 ClubSport - 3.0 litre front-engined coupe... to this day doesn't have the recognition they deserve as a great fast-road/GT car, but too heavy to be competitive..

Ooof. Unless it was a GT3, I’d probably take either of those over a modern 911 right now.

Still working hard on the little one.
Broke out the old “Go-Quad” to get it running again.
Hopefully with a new fuel tank and lines (and spark plug for good measure) it will be up and running!

How about a trio of exciting Subarus? Mine in the middle with my neighbours on each side. Mind you...I have the flat 6 Legacy!

Not as lumpy sounding, but it snarls at 6,500 rpm

Since we're all stuck at home, i've retrimmed the interior of the 3 and fitted new seats and a roll bar. There goes my next speedy budget...

Here's a TR3 story.

As Mech Eng students in the late 1960s one of our class was the envy of all by owning a TR3. He claimed a top speed of 110mph maybe 115. At that that time I had a Mini van, which even after I'd modded the head and carburettor achieved about 70mph 🙁 but I had a secret weapon. A Heuer chronograph. And the newly built motorway nearby (freeway/autobahn/autoroute) had markers at 1/10 mile intervals. No tachy scale on my Heuer but I could do the arithmetic in my head -- as I would hope any aspiring Mech Eng could.

So we set out after closing time at the pub in which we'd been arguing the top speed of a TR3. Perhaps not optimum.

We drive 15 miles north (well after dark) and I can't get a clear enough view of the 1/10 markers. 15 miles south and I still can't get a clear enough view. What I did get a clear view of was the blue flashing lights behind us as we pulled off the motorway. To our relief they stated that as the maximum speed at which they had clocked us was less than 100mph they were just going to give us a warning. Result! An elderly TR3 in uncertain state of tune couldn't reach 100 mph -- official 😁

I got my ‘73 Porsche 911 E/RSR back after a full color change from light yellow to Tangerine late last week. I’ve managed to put approximately 275 miles on it since then. The 2.8 liter short stroke, twin plug MFI motor still has a fine snarl. I’ve owned the car for 15 years, and have missed not being able to drive it for what amounted to be a two year long bare tub Respray. However my muscle memory of shifter and pedal positions is coming back very quickly. Also have some Speedmaster content on the car!

What a great story, thanks for sharing!

Was this post 65 and the 70mph speed limit?

I haven't tried to reach warp speed in the 3 yet. Not until I rebuild the suspension!

1970 I think. The 70 limit was still labelled experimental and provided you weren't being an idiot there was some leeway. We had an overall 50mph limit in 1976 and I was pulled over on my Honda 400/4 in the 4 mile trip to work a couple of times but just got a ticking off.

The ducktail and side graphics are perfect. So nice.

I'm generally a pretty law abiding sort of citizen, but one time over a decade ago, when my MGB GT V8 was my only car, I had to get home for a family emergency (not like someone dying or anything, just a bit of a crisis), and as one of the motorways was very quiet indeed and I knew it well, I thought I would open it up a bit. I went past 110 mph, and the speedo is accurate, not like today's rubbish. I didn't do it for long, because the way that car wanders at speed is absolutely terrifying. The scariest thing was that it just wanted to keep going. Can't beat a V8.

Soft (top) porn...1970 Vette I had for many years, and sold a couple years back....still have a 1968, nut and bolt restoration, in primer awaiting final paint.
