Is there an easy way to know if you have already "liked" a post? It used to be that it was indicated prominently.

Is there any way to save a filter? For example, when I peruse the For Sale sub-forums, I prefer to see them displayed in order of their publication, and not most recent bump/reply. Is it necessary for the user to apply that filter every time they visit?

Sorry to be a pain in the Owners' collective derrieres, but I find the new, more heavily bolded font used on the thread headers to be more difficult to read than the previous version. Here is an example of the contrast:

I dunno what you blokes are doing, that you cant find the old site emojis, but there is no need to do all that buggerising about use them.

I still have the old site emojis available....all I have to do is click on the smiley icon above and i get the choice of all the old site emojis at the top and a whole shitload of others by scrolling down below those.
A screen shot example here:

So this smiley button is there on desktop since finding emoji keyboard is non-obvious there, but on mobile where the emoji keyboard should be easy to find, it wont be there by default

Ok, I think this is where the disconnect is with some people seeing stuff and some not. It’s the interface. I’m using iPhone, never had a problem with the old layout and in fact I loved it- many of us did- aside of the funky search feature, everything worked beautifully. It was auch a departure from the cluttered and busy look of most other forums. No shade on Trev et all, I know you guys have put a tremendous amount of your work (and money) into this site and the revamp- but I really do miss the old layout and not becuase I’m a Luddite.

Like Tony, I find this layout incredibly hard to read (like a Speedmaster ;-) - old school emoji). It’s busy and cluttered- almost seems crammed into the screen with no space between posts or text. I found the old layout elegant and easy to read with the shading blocks, space between information at the bottom and like Dan, knowing what I have liked or not on the easy to read lower dashboard. This current design is incredibly unpleasant to use, hard on the eyes and headache inducing- thus I haven’t been using it much (fumbling and giving up) over the last couple days. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but I’m not enjoying it so far.

If I’m in the minority, so be it, but I figured I’d say it. Can I pay another $100/yr and have the old layout back? I look forward to my banishment now.

On my Samsung android phone I have the smiley face, which gives me access to a myriad of new emojis (eg 🖕), but the old emojis do not appear, no matter on much scrolling I do.

It is likely something to do with my setup but I will bravely carry on. 🪠

So we wouldn’t be able to go back for several reasons, it wasn’t just change for the sake of it, there were modern image formats we couldn’t support on it, modern phones that were incompatible with it, and Google was beginning to punish us for no longer meeting modern structured data standards and layout performance requirements so there just wasn’t a choice there, and the old layout is tied to a lot of underlying infrastructure that just doesn’t work any longer and isn’t supported unfortunately.

With Emjois you should have an emoji button built into your iPhone keyboard down the bottom right that lets you pick and search for them. If you don’t, you can go to settings on your iPhone, search for keyboard, tap keyboards at the top, search for emoji and add that.

There’s more info on how to use it here:

Trev is still working on improvements and dealing with bugs but I think with time it will be something that feels as natural as the old one, we had a huge backlash to the previous layout when it was introduced too but people tended to like it after some minor changes were made and with some time.

I actually love the new layout. The old one was elegant but it felt lacking at times. I can't tell you how many times I had the thought of "it would be so awesome if the forum could just do x". The new layout was definitely a shock, but most new things are once we have grown so accustomed to the old. The new layout has only ben available for a few days and, for me, it already feels so much more powerful and intuitive. The new search tool is incredible. The drop downs from Forums & Latest have streamlined navigation. Being able to follow members is fun in regard to reading material but also gives an edge of (hopefully) not missing out on a sales listing. Honestly, I have actually found this new layout has zapped my productivity as I am still trying to find new features 😁. I learned today that media/videos can be embedded from soo many new sources and all sales listings can be filtered in quite a number of ways 😲 😎. As I said, this forum is now so much more powerful than before, making it, in my eye, leagues above others that I venture to. I also have to believe this new layout allows for quite a bit of future proofing. Definitely not trying to throw unnecessary shade at another forum, but with respect to clutter and overall busy appearance, WUS, to me, has always been the forum that defines both of those aspects. It's easy for me to get overwhelmed over there and give up. Anyways, I love the new layout and look forward to finding all the possible easter eggs and new features.

Edit to add: I have always primarily used the forum on my iPhone with my secondary source being my MacBook. The new layout looks beautiful and functions incredibly well on both.

Thanks for the very mild and cool reply to me basically shitting on your birthday cake. Using my keyboard emoji I know how to do 😘😘🙄💩💩💩 but I think people (including me) liked the active emoji’s that were at the top of the post menu (and apparently alive and well in Australia) on mobile but don’t seem to be for some of us.

I will adjust of course, I made the transition from film photography’s to digital kicking and screaming the whole way (and can say with authority that until around 2008 digital sucked ass and not until around 2015 did it actually start to look as good as film) so like switching underwear brands, I will get used to it.

I did finally figure out how to do multi- image attachment- for anyone who is still stuck on that:

If you select the insert image icon at the top of the text box like we used to (in that old decrepit, shitty website we had 3 days ago) you get this:
And if you go to the bottom you select insert file and then photo library and then you can select as many as you want:

Useless dog pictures here I come!!

We didn't remove any of them, but I think at the moment the editor emoji button only shows up on desktops or tablets. ::psy::

It might be helpful for newcomers to have an introduction video on how to work with the forum that could be posted on the stories tab. Not now of course, but something for the future. It could also include all those tips about introducing yourself, setting an avatar, rules, etc.

(DM for more unsolicited advice with zero offers to help.)

Holy shit! So many I didn’t even know existed! Only about 3/4 of those showed up on my iPhone on the ancient, horrible, suck-ass page from 3 days ago.

I’m actually pretty keen to make some videos about how to sign up, enable TFA, enable Passkeys, change username and do a whole heap of things that are now possible, but there will be some more changes as Trev is still working on updates with fixes and features each day right now
