Hi, just started here as nobody has an answer in my usual watch forum- seeking for some specialists ;-) Stomach says: NO GO- but brain is still looking for more information. There's a Speedmaster Professional on auction with a dial that fits to a 60s speedys (SWISS MADE, marks,...), with a gold case back marks 145.012-67 SP and in a DeVille gold (?) case and a cal.860 (1872 Lemania) -without bezel! Sold as "Military chrono of 40/50s" lmfao... Anyone else saw a Speedmaster with a cal 860? And only 2 sub- dials without bezel? Strange. Anyone got the Moonwatch only book- in there? Over 1000- too expensive for gambling Many thanks Markus
There are so many things wrong with this it boggles the mind! It's not even worth enumerating the separate things. This is quite possibly the absolute worst fake I've ever seen. Thanks for the Monday morning laugh
In case you were serious about your question though - I would buy a copy of Moonwatch Only as soon as possible, and check out http://speedmaster101.com/
Don't want to be too rude however: I am wondering what your usual watch forum is. I cannot think of a watch forum with not even one member being able to spot this one as a total fake/ Franken..
Is there a Timex forum??? WOW.... is that a nasty piece! ICK! Its likely not even worth owning as a joke piece. Mind you, if you've got a patio table with one lag 1cm shorter than the rest.......
To answer the OP's question, we must review a few [and well written] defintions, including what a Franken is. This post gives various definitions, including a good one for the term Franken ➔ https://omegaforums.net/threads/cons-of-buying-a-watch-co-built-omega.31004/page-7#post-350072 . The OP's watch is definitely not a Franken, however is a piece of Caca that falls below that of a Franken.
Man, that's a bit disappointing because I know this listing and the seller is someone I've always known to have and sell amazing real pieces. I'm guess you never know...
Who dares selle that as a speedmaster??? Nevertheless if the case is solide gold and the 860 movement is fine. Why not for parts and melting. There was a chronograph from the 60's and a 860 but it was a DeVille. I owned it one a few years ago. It'as very rare. I wish i never sold it... I still cry about that http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/539983IMG3577.jpg http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/872677IMG35662.jpg
