Newbie here ........ Adelaide, South Australia Omega Seamaster Antimagnetic (date unknown) I am wondering if anyone may be able to tell me anything about this piece. The previous occupant of my home left behind many materials some 25 years ago including a large quantity of watch parts (many different springs, winders and small parts in tiny corked 'test tube' glass bottles), most notably of Italian/Swiss origin and among it all I discovered this watch. I suspect it may be worth something to someone as it was the only watch that was in the box. It is not in good condition and it does not work but it would appear to be 18k gold (stamped on the back). Can someone let me know anything about it, and in particular if it worth anything please?
Unfortunately, that's a total fake, including the gold stamp on the back. You can see the metal the "gold" was plated over. Tom
A vintage fake, Omega never stamped outer case backs only on the inside. Easiest way to spot the older fakes. Worth a bit of fun taking to it with a hammer. Post pics if you do
It probably has a budget Swiss movement, e.g: an AS1100 or similar. It would be a shame to smash that but if it has an Omega mark engraved then it's cold chisel time. If you have an engineers vice it would be good to see it compressed somewhat.
Post a pic of the winders and other parts as you might have a crown (winder) that is worth a bit to someone.
Maybe the OF should add a sub forum as a "sticky" wherein pictures of fakes can remain for reference purposes. There are some clever fakes around (NOT including this subject fake), and it might be handy as an easy reference for newbies. Just thinkin'.
Nup, nothing on my phone. I use the forum more than my phone though so PMs are probably the quickest.
The OP's watch is a fake for sure. However, I hope that you never hit an Omega like this with a hammer... Always exceptions to every rule. gatorcpa
There's one right here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/lost-crown-on-cosmic-what-size-stem.31639/ gatorcpa
Doh... should have mentioned Omega never stamped the triangle with omega on the case back........ Like this ( hope there was not a mass smashing of connies since my last post in this thread )
.............. found another one (in a tin under the same box), NOT an Omega but looks to be the real deal whatever a Michauds may be? Not working either and in pretty rough condition .............. looks like a WW2 gift by the inscription on the back. Just posted for interest's sake
The watch maynot be of any real value but if the bracelet has a Bonklip brand mark on it then it will be worth a dollar or two. Any more pics of the bracelet?
