Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives. Other than the current state of American politics, Formula 1 is the best soap opera going.🍿
That, and the state of delivery of the Apollo 11 Anniversary watch. Who got theirs, who didn't.....you know, important stuff.

F1 needs a new star and Verstappen is the Chosen One. He will be given a lot of leeway that a lot of other driver's would not. A lesser driver would have been penalized, but Verstappen is too important for the F1 poohbahs to lean too heavily on. That's just the way it is.
I'm really hoping Verstappen and Leclerc will give us great battles in the years to come. (and that Leclerc beats that son of b***** =) )

You can also add Ocon to that list should he return next year for MB, and maybe even Norris who I think continues to impress in a rapidly improving Maclaren

I'm more on the Russell train over the Ocon train. Ocon is good but I don't see him with the same talent level as Max or Leclerc.

yes I agree Max and Leclerc are better than Ocon, on talent. But if Ocon were to get a drive in the MB then in that car he would be a contender.

Im also very impressed by Norris.

Walking there?

I hitch-hiked overnight both to & from my first British GP. But Jim Clark won so I was a happy boy.

So while in my festival haze I read an article that suggested silly season is going to be great fun this year, but then threw in the prospect of some Media groups having actual communications evidence.
The supposed scenario is thus: VET is pretty unhappy, FER are a tad miffed this year too( so far so obvs). VET is also getting quite a lot of pressure from his family who want him to be home a bit more. So, the focus of FER attention has landed on RIC to sound out options...

I suppose the proof will be in a coordinated drop of these coms if they do exist...

Oh and Aston Martin will be 'racing in F1' next year....so silly season has started.

A new team? Aston’s already a primary sponsor on the Red Bull.

Seems to me that it’s just a rumour. If I recall Aston Martin initially came on board with RBR with a view to developing an engine for 2021. I can’t see how they can introduce an engine for next year and then a new engine concept one year later. Not withstanding that The FIA have not been able to secure any new engine suppliers or major car manufacturers, with the most likely being Porsche having walked away, at least for the time being anyway.

Another thought on the stewards enquiries - back when the sadly departed Charlie Whiting was involved these things used to get sorted out so much quicker. Why does it take so long? There needs to be a time limit. It’s like VAR in football and DRS in cricket - the more you look at something, the more complicated it becomes with different angles and views adding to the confusion. Make a decision in 10 minutes, stick to it, and move on.

Alternatively, get the racing drivers to vote on whether the move was fair or not...🙄

Part press joke/ part yearly sign silly season is open. For as long as I can recall every year there is a the 'Aston to enter F1 ' story. If I had a pound for every time etc.

Actaully, given how hard they appear to be jumping up and down stamping out the RIC to FER story, it would not be the first time there is not a little smoke without fire...if VET does decide to call it quits at the end of 2019, and RIC is tied up like a Dominatrix's customer for 2 years, could HUL FINALLY get his chance?

There's no way Aston Martin is going to have their own F1 team next year or even the year after. They would be really uncompetitive and running the team would nearly bankrupt the company. They are going to be doing WEC soon though which should be really cool with the new hypercar category.

I'm bored with F1 but it is the British GP this weekend, I believe that it is on free to air TV so all being well I will watch it, hopefully a bit of action during the race and not a procession.

Broadcasters tend to concentrate on a few front runners, or are woefully ignorant (although I think the days of local producers following only the local competitors are gone). However, for a modest outlay you can subscribe to the F1.com timing screens which work on smartphone or much easier to read in a web browser on a computer. That way you have a channel to look at what is also happening in mid-field and towards the back and make your judgement on what in the race is interesting.

This Sunday I'll have Silverstone on radio Five Live and computer, with the Bastile Day stage of TdF on TV. Expecting to be cross-eyed and deaf by 17:00, especially if I dip into Wimbledon occasionally.

Let's remember that Bernie's 'oppo was Max Mosley. Son of Oswald who lead the British Union of Fascists and Diana Mitford, who attended the Nuremberg Rally; was Hitler's guest at the Berlin Olympics; whose MI5 dossier (yes, she had her own) noted her "to be a public danger at the present time".

Max is best known to most of the British public for his Nazi themed S&M party and his suing (I think it was) the Telegraph for reporting it. His argument in court being that sado-masochism is now acceptable to the general public and the public interest in such an event wouldn't be sufficient to justify breaching his right to privacy. Apparently, and I'm hoping the Telegraph's lawyers back me up on this, at least one of the prostitutes he hired for the evening disagreed ... saying how sorry she felt for his wife, among other things.

So .... Bernie's respect for Putin ... hardly a surprise, really?
