Hello, I thought that you would possibly be interested by this finding : a UG, never worn, with the label and serial number still attached, and with a plastic protection on the back, in a passably worn out box. It has been in the family for a long time and I reckon that it is genuine but on the other hand the serial number indicates the early 30s. Did they really put a plastic protection on the back in the 30s ? What do you think ?
By the way, I would be interested if you have a good address in Geneva for a service on another UG. Thank you.
You are badly misinterpreting the date of manufacture. The watch is probably from the '90s or even more recent, and certainly no earlier than the '80s. It has little value to collectors, but if it has sentimental value to you, then by all means have it serviced and enjoy it.
ok, thanks a lot for your input and help. No worries, it has personal value, with or without the collector's value
If I recall, your grandmother left you a Cal 262 watch placed in a Polarouter box. That is the one that should have GREAT sentimental value and also a possibly spectacular provenance. Please do whatever you can to document the connection between any watches, any watch packaging, advertisements or other UG materials from your grandmother through her affiliation with UG through her father (your great-grandfather), Raoul who was the son of the company's founder Ulysses Perret. Is anyone in your family still using the Perret surname? Best Regards.
Here's the link to your earlier (2015) discussion about your Cal 262. Were you able to get it serviced? https://omegaforums.net/threads/help-identifying-exact-model.30865/
