    Dear all,

Some time ago, I have received this watch. It came in a polarouter box but I am thinking that my grandmother just grabbed whatever box she had around. Do you know what model it is ?

It is "jammed", I guess that it didn't work for a long time and the oil got stuck. Does anyone know where I can get it revised in Geneva ?

    Thank you in advance,

The watch looks very interesting. I'm pretty sure you have something really special there.

Would it be possible to have a couple of more photos of the box? As you say, I don't think it match the watch, but I know someone who would be happy to pay a small fortune for the box, depending on the spelling on the box @styggpyggeno1

I am as marturx implies very interested in seeing a better picture of that box!

I do also, as marturx, believe that your watch might be extra interesting - as it say "chronometre" on the dial. If it has its original dial and if it has not been "repainted" at any time it is a very special "extra" - being a chronometre. General advice is - take it to a watchmaker that specializes in vintage watches. Sorry but I do not know of anyone in your area (even if the rest of the world are confused about the Swiss and the Swedes - I do not know Geneva at all (I am from Stockholm).

Ask the watchmaker to carefully open the watch and look for any numbers on the movement. It is said Universal chronometers are numbered and marked on the movement. He can also help you with an assement of what needs to be done to get the watch working again. Be extra careful to ask him not to do anything but a service of the movement - no cleaning of the dial, polishing of the case etc. If the crystal has small scratches - ask him to polish it and reuse it.

Let us know what happens - and I would be very grateful for pictures of that box. I might have the right watch for it.
    Regards

Also do a google search for "Universal Geneve 262" and you will get close to what you have.

    Hello,

Here is a picture of the box.

    IMG_0274.jpg

I will keep the box for the time being as I don't have any other. Maybe someone else in the family has the proper box for this watch. Let's see.

Thank you very much for the advises on what to ask the watchmaker. I will report here the number and mark on the movement, if any.

    Kind regards,
    Barth

Let me know if you are letting the box go at any time. It would go very nice with my SAS Polarouter.

So are you saying that there might be a Polerouter lying around somewhere as well?

Maybe. My grandmother passed away a couple of weeks ago, I don't know what other watches she might have had, I received this one before.
I should have asked more questions, but for me this watch had a strong symbolic value more than anything else.

By the way, she was the daughter of the owner of the brand, Raoul Perret, thus there might be surprises. I will let you know.

bonjour Dagobert! Most service for vintage watches in Geneva and Lausanne is sent out to a specialist in or near the Vallee de Joux. I sent my UG to lEmeraude here in Lausanne and they only deal with him. I will look it up today and get back to you.

I know that UG (bought out new version of UG) still exists and they are in Geneve, you could always give them a call and see where they recommend.

I found the information I was looking for, l'Emeraude in Lausanne works with Monsieur Eric Berthoud you can read about him here http://forumamontres.forumactif.com/t9450-toubibs-de-montres-de-pere-en-fils. He is near Yverdon so not exactly in Geneva and I couldn't find anyone that work with him in Geneva. You can always give him a call and see if you can send him the watch. He did a great job on my Polerouter.

    Berthoud, Thérèse et Eric (-Bonzon)
    Téléphone 024 433 11 23

    Hope this helps

Let us keep the Polarouters and Polerouters apart. Important difference when it comes to that box. :whipped:;):)
