A franken that I got knowing what it was. Several watches were made whole when I broke it up. Parts went to several people including members here, amongst them @MSNWatch, @gatorcpa, @dsio, and somebody else I forget got the crown. Even @cicindela needed one specific screw that was the only one in the caliber of that exact length so I mailed it to him. Best looking franken I ever owned!

True, if you know what to look for. It's one thing to know what a correct watch is; quite another to know what an incorrect watch is that has rare parts.

I've thought of starting a thread on "dibs" but here is just as good I guess. How serious do you guys take the dibs? Are they in fun or do you really try to remember who was interested in the watch for later? Is it not considered tactless to dibs something that someone just barely got out of the box; or is it an indirect way of saying "job well done"?

Dibs are written in blood. Easy for me being the same Timezone @JimInOz holds 3 or 4 of mine....

Usually pretty seriously. It's a right of first refusal.

They are kinda fun, but we do remember who inquired / dibsed it first. Some of us go through watches quicker than a bag of M&Ms.

The only higher compliment than "Dibs" is "I hate you"....... but that's a Jersey thing.

I wasn't sure of the spelling of "dibsed" so I chose another word. Thanks for clearing it up for me :)

Dibs is serious. Like a handshake agreement between mates, or an eye to eye and a nod of the head between soldiers.

And only when the financial stars aren't in alignment with a dibs offer should you consider relinquishing your place.

For sure! That's a certainty. I'd call it the "old boy's network" except a couple of teenagers were involved.

Before this had gone for putting right, @Garv had dibbesed it... After it came back, he reminded me that he'd dibbesed it... When I started selling off pieces to find other stuff, he checked in with me to make sure I hadn't forgotten that he'd dibbesed it.

Dibbesed is a blood oath. ;)

And like a lot of others here I'd imagine, I have a spreadsheet. :D

I have sold on dibs, but no one ever honors mine. :)
Instead, they selfishly keep the watches I covet.
You know who you are. :whipped:

Well, maybe one or two exceptions. ::psy::
