FOIS to CK-2998-4 or 5

Hi all. A couple of years ago, I had the spade register hand on my FOIS changed to a stick to match the other 2, like Wally Schirra's original watch. That was enough for me... back then. Now I would be interested in swapping out the dial and sapphire crystal (I know the latter is far from a straight swap which is why I didn't pursue it back then). Is there someone who does this? At the very least, I'd like to source the correct replacement dial (proper font, stepped, etc). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Lots of threads about this already. It can all be done by just about any watchmaker for a nominal fee. Personally I would not do the crystal swap, as I would always question it's water resistance, and from what I've read the process involves modifying the crystal itself, which means that if you end up cracking it you'll have to seek out that watchmaker and pay for a whole nother service all over again.

Lewis Watch Co sells FOIS's premodded to have hesalite glass and different hand sets. They have a strict policy of not 'modding' your watch for you (against the policy of any watchmaker with a parts account) but if you want to buy a whole new piece with your desired aesthetics this might be your ticket.

Yes, thanks, and I participated in many of the threads. I had contacted Adam in 2017 who told me he didn't mod others' watches. Was just wondering if others have since mastered the art.

In any event, I'd still like to know where I can get a repro dial that's more period correct. I know I can't go to Omega.
