Interesting bumping technique, the price goes up! It rather suggests he has several of them and has ramped up the price of the next, yet always posts in private watch sales I see, rather than as a dealer.

The price changed from Euros to USD....not sure why.

Ah didn't spot that, thanks. Not a bad price for a new one but I still think he sells too many watches still in the stickers to be a private seller. Maybe they are relaxed about that on here so perhaps I should butt out.

Hi Guys,
I've been looking at getting a FOIS as well. Being in Australia, i'm trying to source one online.

I have read on various forums about https://www.swisswatchesdirect.co.uk now i don't doubt that they are legitimate. Not to mention they also provide a dealer stamped warranty card which is a bonus.

It seems that i get get the VAT exempt from the price because its shipping to Australia? I have also looked at iconicwatches.co.uk who also list the FOIS for the exact same price but they do not exempt VAT. Does anyone know why this is so?

Below is a screenshot of the final cost of the FOIS from swisswatchesdirect.

See my earlier comment about this. It is because Iconic will be sourcing the watch in the EU (at a guess, Italy, Greece etc) and using the margin scheme to pay VAT only on the profit would be my guess, or being they watch at a discount with VAT paid in the other country which would be a nightmare for them to reclaim. Anyone doing it that way won't be able to exempt or remit the VAT. Perhaps Swisswatchesdirect are doing just what their name suggests, shipping from Switzerland which isn't part of the EU so they are able to refund the full amount on export.

Forgive my ignorance but would there be any downsides on me purchasing from Swisswatchesdirect instead of iconicwatches?

Well since I am in the UK I would prefer to deal with a bricks and mortar place like Iconic who have a shop you can visit but if you are elsewhere then subject to your due diligence then there probably isn't a downside, though I can't comment directly since I haven't dealt with SWD. That said I can't think of any negative comment I have noticed about them either.

FIRST OMEGA (in space) -> they are even telling you its a (great) first choice (the 'in space' bit refers to how you will feel in the honeymoon phase) 😁

Assuming they are as reliable as Iconic, swisswatchesdirect seems the best deal for you. Even after Australian import duties, the price will probably be less than Iconic.

What prices have ADs in Australia offered, or have they been unable to get their hands on one for you?

Great choice imho as a first watch, but I do agree that the strap falls a bit short for me, but I wear my FOIS on a bracelet anyway.
I would recommend buying a different brown strap. The strap that comes with the watch looks and feels somewhat cheap. It does age quite well from what I've seen, but I'd still invest in a new strap.

I can't recommend the FOIS. The strap included isn't the best either.

Why would Omega put a crappy strap on such a nice watch? Especially as the bracelet on the Moonwatch is not cheap. Is it to make up for the cost of the sapphire rather than the hesalite?

Not sure, but I will say that the strap on the Speedy Tuesday and the straps on the anniversary trilogy don't look so hot in the pictures either.
