Wow. It must have landed on something quite sharp to make a dent like that.
Aren't the bezels just made out of aluminum with an insert though?

The bezel shell is steel, the insert, which is not designed to be removed is aluminium.

Welcome to the exclusive "FOIS Dent At 80 Club" 😁😁

I dropped mine on a concrete floor, so it must have been an unlucky fall for that damage to happen!

c.$180 for the part on a Speedmaster. They changed it for free at the OB a couple of years ago for me. However, nowadays it may have to be shipped to the service center.

Same for this bezel...

It fell like from like 3 feet onto a marble floor.

Yeah, its pretty bad. I was hoping so bad to get away with it when i picked it up to look. 😀 Like when you drop your phone and you prey a little before picking it up.

It fell like from like 3 feet onto a marble floor.

Thanks to all for the suggestions!

or to achieve symmetry, just put another & similar dent at the 3-o'clock position 😁

Just to followup in case someone has a similar issue, the charges to repair this by Omega/SG are below

WATER RESISTANCE SERVICE 230.00
BEZEL STEEL 170.00
Shipping 30.00
Tax 30.11

Total: $460.11 USD

not a cheap mistake but i am happy that i will be getting it back in hopefully good condition.

I live near (18 miles) a service center but opted for shipping since it can be 75 minutes each way in traffic.

As exclusive as it may be , I am happy to decline membership into the "FOIS Dent At 80 Club". 😀

I’m seriously thinking of making a padded room in my house for watch put on and take off. Winding as well. I know I only need to pad the floor but I might as well do walls and ceiling in case my mother in-law comes back to stay. When I hand someone a watch I won’t let go until they verbally verify they have a good grip. Like when you hand a knife or gun to someone.

My watch box sits on top of my dresser.
I have a nice thick rug in front of my dresser.
Haven't had to "use" it yet, but I hope it would help protect a dropped watch from the wood below.

I like to live on the edge and find a nice clearing and solid ground to change straps

OP, sorry to read of your misfortune, but that service quote seems quite reasonable and like you, I would have gotten it fixed. I'm in enough clubs already.

BTW, sorry to hijack, but I've started a new club here at work (I work in I/T) called the "I hate people club". There are four members so far, and the best part is, we never meet.

😲 only 4 members, I could fill a few tennis courts with members of my club. Added someone today I heard on the radio.........😉

You would. Rough surface AND water?! C'mon, everyone knows you can't get the Speedy wet!
You are one of the wildest people I have come across.

Many of us should be living in padded rooms.

To the OP, now is the time to source a deployant buckle to prevent this happening again.

I'd never get used to looking at that, every time I'd see it I'd get pissed at myself again. To me, that'd have to be fixed ASAP, but I don't see a beat up watch as having character, a beat up leather jacket has character. A 30 year old watch in pristine shape has character.
Sadly, I’m the same way. Shouldn’t matter to me or, even better, should chalk it up to character/history (bike guru Grant Petersen calls this “beausage = beauty + usage), but what Grant and others fail to understand is that one can’t simply “choose” to think of it that way, any more than an introvert can choose to be an extrovert. I believe it’s luck of the draw, simply the way you’re wired. This would drive me absolutely crazy.

Ahh the water myth again. Didn’t they land in water AKA “splashdown” 😉

Right wrist is that a watch strap I see there.
