The GMT bug bit some time ago and I toyed with the Tudor GMT but never gelled with it.
So I pulled this Flightmaster out of mothballs. She took a solid hit years ago. Two hands came off and the crystal flaked off inside. The dial is loose also.
I’ve pulled a speedmaster apart (from the case) years ago but never tried with this one so she laid dormant. Still keeps good time but no doubt needs a service due to the glass and other visible issues.
I used Nesbits for a Pre-moon and a Planet Ocean. Both were fabulous and flawless when done.
First, any Flightmaster specialists out there you’d recommend? I don’t mind using Nesbits again but sometimes there are other things to consider.
Second, anyone wear their FM regularly and how does the GMT suit you?

Looking at it I am going to guess you are going to need a new dial. If that’s the case I would start scouring eBay for a used one. If you don’t mind a full restore then I can almost guarantee Omega will be the cheapest.

I wonder if they will put the same version dial on?
No it would be the service dial. You can find examples of it on here.

Probably just one of the dial foot is cut. The dial needs a new foot and a crystal

Can a dial like this be repaired?

I want to see if the foot is indeed broken on the dial but I cannot find any tutorials on pulling this movement from the case. With three stems and two pushers it seems daunting. I guess the pushers won't be the issue nor the main stem. How do you release the two other stems?

The crown for the 24 hour hand has a split stem, so it is simply pulled apart.

The regular crown for winding and setting the movement has a decent screw just like an 861 would.

The crown that adjusts the inner rotating bezel doesn’t need to be removed to take the movement out.

If in doubt, take it to a watchmaker...

Cheers, Al

Pulled the movement out and placed the hands back on(not aligned exactly right) for safe keeping. Cleaned the glass shards from the case and put it back together.
The dial does have one foot broken. I’ve spoken with MJ Watch service in Chicago and they have repaired dial feel before. Of course they won’t know until it’s in their hands.
Dial has a little damage but if they can fix the foot I’ll stick with it. Lume on the hands is surprising intact!

What does the service dial look like for this? Will it have the green or will it simply be black?

I’ve ordered a copy of Flightmaster Only. I guess I can wait to have all the answers 😀

Just got it back from a service. New crystal. Everything else is original.
Running perfectly and they were able to fix the dial foot. Waiting for the Extract to arrive so I can get the correct bracelet.

Looks great! You should consider getting the case done by one of the folks that have mastered the sunburst lapping to get it back top its original finish. It will really make a difference.

I will during the next service most likely. I could have this go around but my wallet was a little thin!

Nice watch - I have a 145.026. Did the extract shed any light on the original bracelet?
