    Hello All,

For my 29th birthday I decided it would be a cool idea to get a vintage omega watch to wear around in the office at work or what have you. This just so happens to be my first ever mechanical watch. I recently purchased this on Ebay and I'd like to know more about what might be original to it or just any information in general while I anticipate receiving it in the mail.

    I know it's a 30T2 32mm manual wind with a serial of 10417574 which I believe places its age ~1944.

    Thanks!
    Kevin

Welcome, the dial was badly redone, case looks okay. We would need pictures of the movement and inner caseback to tell you more.
I just hope you didn't payed to much, with that redial this watch has very little value.

Thanks everyone! I'm not even concerned, this watch looks awesome. It was my intention to buy a watch that I don't care as much about and this solidifies that. But I'm curious, what is the dial supposed to look like?

    Welcome aboard:)

Congrats for having a thick skin, you survived the usual merciless first-eBay-purchase-redial-hazing and got washed with negative energy for your very first post, at least from one Omega forum member who forgot what it felt like to be a newbie...

The good news is most people on this board have a higher EQ :)

This is very likely a redial indeed, but as long as you enjoy wearing it, this is all that matters!

Wear and enjoy it in good health, redial or not!

Redials are common. As people owned watches and the dials degraded it was common in a service to have the dial redone to clean it up or change the style. Originally there where a few different dials on models. You can tell on this one by the quality of printing on the dial.

Collectors don’t value redials much. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad looking watch though.

    Welcome! And nice piece.

I got the watch today, but i'm not sure how to open the back. I think I'm supposed to pry on the part I circled? It seems too small to fit a knife in. Can anyone help?

Thank you all for the replies. Getting the back off of this one is very tricky as there's almost no clearance. I took it to a local watchmaker to service. I know it's a 30t2 caliber 620 15 jewel. But i'm trying to figure out the case number so I can determine the correct crown and crystal, i'm assuming that's supposed to be on the inside of the back lid?
