First vintage omega service… advice sought

Hi OF,

I recently picked up a Seamaster Cosmic (166.036) and it likely needs a service. My options are to either send it to Omega via my AD, or have it serviced by an independent watchmaker in the UK.

I came across Genesis Watchmaking, which is fairly local to me. But interested if there are other independents that I should consider (or if anyone else has used Genesis).

Also, are there any pros and cons to sending to Omega versus an independent watchmaker?

Appreciate any insights or advice.

Duncan/Genesis are great for Rolex but I tend to use Swiss Time Services, Mitka, WatchGuy or AJHSL for Omega. For yours I’d probably suggest Mitka or WatchGuy

Have also used both Swiss Time and Mitka. Most recent vintage omega service with Mitka was a couple of months ago and great customer service and good turnaround time.
