It would help OF members make better informed comments if you would give an indication of the price sought and whether or not it’s a private sate, buy it now or auction

Hi, its an Action. Starting bid £315. Inviting offers. I have made an offer and seller has countered at £450. I have asked for a picture of the crown which is described as original but not clearly pictured other than being visible in the picture I have posted. It doesnt look right to me however I would like yoir thoughts. Is the dial original or is it a redial? And if so true to original?

The gold plated case shows significant wear, I would not recommend this watch regardless of price.

The photos are poor and the gold plating is worn, the lugs appear damaged where the spring bars fit and the crown looks wrong.

Hard to see from the photos if it is or isn’t a redial but, the caseback looks polished and on top of everything else, it’s a tired looking hand wind movement.

I think your original offer was more than fair but I’d move on to a nicer watch

I would have to say no at any price, gold plating is (in my opinion) generally a bad way to go since it's very impernanent and will wear off eventually, as it's already started to do heavily on this watch, imo better to go for steel or save up for solid gold.

Welcome @Parmolover . Glad you asked here before you pulled the final trigger. As Said above- case has significant plate wear through- that does not clean up- the case is toast.

Even if it were in great shape, the price would be high for a plated case. Be patient and keep training your eye on what to look for.

If it's a first watch what are you looking for in a first watch? There are so many fine swiss made watches under $2k out there in steel and modern ETA movements that are bullet proof and easy to repair. You can re plate a gold watch but you should talk to watchmaker who provides this service so you know what the case condition must be in order to re plate it successfully before you buy.My.02
