Hi all,

I'm a first time buyer of an Omega watch. It's been a dream to own one since I was younger. I found a used constellation which I love the look of but I need help identifying whether it's legit it or not.

Here are the photos are info shared by the seller.

Thank you in advance!

Equipped with the cal. 564 movement, 24-jewel automatic.

The coin-edge bezel is solid YG (yellow gold).

The case and bracelet are 20-micron gold-capped.

There are minor scratches overall, but no peeling of the plating, and considering its age, I would say it's in beautiful condition.

Lug width: 19mm

Current wrist size: approx. 16.5cm
With additional links, approx. 18cm.

Belt color: Gold

Asking price: 800 pounds / 1,057.20 USD

Seems ok, but the gold cap is a bit too much worn off for that price.

Thanks so much for your reply. What price would be fair do you think? Do you think this is a good first time purchase?

What do you mean by this? The photos are pretty poor, but I can't see any loss of the gold cap.

As long as it seems from your expert opinions to be a real Omega watch, I'll definitely make an offer. Is there a recommended price given the pictures and info provided ? (I know the quality isn't great)

Do a search on eBay sold listings for this reference.

You can also get an approximate idea of value by searching old forum listings for watches that sold.

Dont new how desperate you are to buy a vintage Omega right this minute.
It appears fine, but the pictures are lot of sufficient quality to properly assess the condition of the case or dial.

It’s a relatively common model and nothing, including the price would make me run to buy this particular one. I’d ask for better photos then base my offer off those. If it happens to sell in the meantime it won’t be long before another comes along.

Seller randomly blocked me while I was negotiating price with him...... guess I'll hold off and wait like you said! Thanks everyone.

No sharp edges anymore. For me quite important when buying a watch. As its gold cap you also cant remove much material to sharpen them again.

For what it's worth, the c-case connie with the brick link bracelet in gold cap is pretty cool looking. Look for one in the best condition you can find.

This is a very popular Omega Constellation which can be purchased at relative bargain I own 2 and find them very wearable and can be both dressy and daily wear.
Read through this thread you will see many examples and help you focus on specific reference. There is also a nice intro YouTube by a OF member @kaplan who collects C case and is resident expert. Do more research first and you will make informed purchase.
Good luck!
