Hey everyone,

I’m pretty new to this forum and collecting watches as a whole. This is my first time considering buying a vintage watch. Wanted to see what you think about this piece and if it’s legit? Not a whole lot of info on it.

Here are some pics. Any insight or tips would be great! Thanks!

Sharper photos are needed to assess this. What is the price? Other info such as service history is also good.

We need better pics. For instance, it seems that there is lume on the dial (at 12 for example), but not on the hands, which would be an issue. But hard to tell with the pics you provided.

They are all legit, but with Vintage watches, the main worries are:
1) Is the dial original - if they are too good, they are reprinted and watch loses value
2) Are the crown / hands etc. are original?

If the dial is re-printed / worked on, the watch loses collectability hugely

Shouldn't that be double pyramids? Looks (bad photo) like they've popped off and disappeared rather than being glued back down.

I think a better caseback picture is needed, but his is one of the best dial designs/layouts for me - very attractive. . I think it is a 1950s movement. I haven’t seen lume on this combination and the minute hand looks long

Thanks for all the input so far. I’ve got some more pics of the watch which should be better quality, but no new pics of the movement inside. Light in the photos seem to be warmish/yellow. Seller was asking approx. US $600.

lume should be on hands If on dial. I would leave alone
Will ask to check for any lume. Thanks!

Where were you able to find this? I’d like to see if there are more pictures of the watch you found, including turn back and the movement.

It is mine bought in Oct. I think yours is a gold capped model. Mine is a Dennison British cased but I am not sure yours is quite the same. Ask seller if hands and indices are gold or gilt.

So I'm not any expert in watches, I was cleaning out my great aunts house and stumbled across this Omega watch. I was wondering by the pictures below if anyone could tell e info about it ie: Date, Model,Name, Rarity anything really. (No picture of the movement, didn't want to ruin anything when taking the back off). I don't think its fake but want to find out the history of it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link to your post. Good info there to do some research on this piece!

One thing that was bothering me was that the crown isn't signed with the Omega logo, but I've heard some earlier models don't have a signed crown...

Another was that this piece has a double dot (not sure what it's called) at the 12 o'clock marker instead of one dot...

Does anyone have any thoughts or wisdom on this piece?

What are numbers on the back? 2387? Bothers me as I can’t see others of that ref.
It seems possible hands are not original but fortunately there are far greater experts than me. I thought yours might be a 1950s international collection but I haven’t seen a gold capped only solid gold of various qualities. Crown is probably replacement but a lot of people aren’t that fussed about this. I suspect mine is not original crown.
As I see it It is an ok price but you could probably do better asking someone on the forum if they have one to sell. It looks pretty good, and

The dial is nice, as said above, there should be lume on the hands as well. At 600$, I would pass.

Seems like the numbers are 2317/15. Did some digging and found this reference exists.

I suspect that the crown isn't original either, and the hands don't have lume.

Any thoughts on a fair price that I should counter with for this watch might be?

New hands and more needed to make it all match. If you really like it $250. IMHO It isn’t a collectors piece as it stands, but it is very handsome to wear. Looks like there are notches for lume in the indices. Dial in this condition is not common, but it has probably been restored at some point.

@Sheikhhhh welcome to the forum.
If you want information on your watch you need to create your own thread, instead of hijacking a discussion created by someone else. It’s like interrupting in the middle of a conversation to change the subject.
I don’t know much about Omega but I know enough about styles to guess the model is too recent to be considered vintage, looks like it’s from the 1980s or after. Since there’s no model name on the dial it means there’s no model name.
There were thousands of relatively non descript models sold over the years by various watch brands, not considered collectable, and not valuable, especially considering the case is not fully in steel (only the case back).

Best regards

Hi mate, welcome to OF.

I am afraid your watch is a fake, sorry. No such model was made by Omega.
