What bothers me most is that I don't even know where I got this scratch or ding so no story to tell really.
That exactly IS your story. You didn't really know how you got the first scratch!

I understand how you feel, it was the same for me when I scratched my first nice watch. It became a perfect excuse to get a second nice watch: then I'd have one for wearing & scratching, and one for special occasions. Of course, it didn't stop there 😀

It's not brand new anymore! Hahaha how hard will it be to remove using a Cape Cod on a scale of 1 to 10? I'm seriously considering it.
On a scratch/ding like this, it’s difficult because you are right on the line between a polished and a brushed surface. It takes some skill to do this and I am again advising you not to attempt it on a brand new Speedmaster. Chances are you will make it worse and more noticeable. It is very minor in the grand scheme of things. Nobody is going to notice it but you. Just live with it.

Yes. Listen to this. Specifically: you cannot remove a ding from a transition line/edge without knowing what you're doing.

The best kind of scratch is the one where you don't know how you got it. If you bang the watch and scratch it, then you might beat yourself up for not being more careful. Got the first one out of the way. Own the watch....Don't let the watch own you.

Haha maybe I'm just being OC or because the watch is a few months old but I really can't unsee it and I keep thinking that it is small enough that I might just be able to fix it.

You'll get more scratches, dings, and swirls. Accept them. You'll be happier for it.

And as others have echoed, just leave it alone if it's at the transition between the polished and brushed surface.

I can't believe that a luxury brand like Omega makes watches out of a material that is so easily damaged. It's really unacceptable. ::stirthepot::

I agree. Omega should use that special steel made in its own foundry that is impervious to everything including a direct hit by a 100 megaton nuclear warhead. You know, like that Rolex stuff. 🙄

Damn okay I hear you all. Thank you. So basically there's nothing I can do myself to fix it huh. That leaves me the option of bringing it to Omega. Omega service will be able to fix this small scratch/ding right? I will try to delay the trip to Omega as long as I can.

BTW here is my watch. Can't really see the scratch or ding from this angle.

I think that based of the replies and this picture you've posted, I've concluded that there's simply nothing here to be fixed. Just want to make that clear.

Yes, Omega will refinish the case and the bracelet as part of a full service - for $750 USD. Only God and the Swatch Group know how much a full service will be in 5-7 years which, barring some real mechanical issue, is the soonest that you should be sending your watch in for service. Any sooner than that and you are throwing away $.

Sounds like the makings of a good "I was blackout drunk that night" story. Heck, it may even already exist. Has the OP checked Instagram for photos or videos other people may have taken of him that night? Maybe you were at an awards show in a drunken stupor and got smacked by Will Smith, and his wedding band nicked the watch? 😁

Here are more obvious pictures of it. It is above the small bevel between the brushed and polished surfaces. From side view, I can't see it which is why I think it is a scratch on the polished surface right on the edge of it.

That is a clear deformation. That's a ding. To remove it will require reforming that edge and then completely refinishing all of the surfaces for continuity. That work is for a professional.

Damn haven't even used this watch more than 7 times haha. And I was extremely careful when I did. I don't think I could have been any more careful to be honest. Okay I won't do anything myself that's for sure. I guess I'll just have to live with it till my first service.

Ahhhh.....Thanks to the OP for getting us back to normal newbie OF banter, better this than more moonswatch threads!
(Leave it as-is until you get more than you can live with then send it to Omega, if you send it there after every ding you will never get to wear it!)

Haha you're welcome and thank you as well to everyone. This thread has been therapeutic to me. I'll try to live with it as long as I can. I guess this feeling is part of owning a watch. At least I know now that I can always just have it serviced when I can't take it anymore haha.

That's a tiny, everyday, routine edge ding. That's nothing. If you wear your watch, you're going to get more of those. Hike your pants up and march forward, friend. 👍
