Lovely watch , but not sure why anyone would compare a 16570 against a 2254 . One is definitely a divers watch & the other one definitely looks like a GMT , am I really missing something here .

I understood the OP comparing the two because those are the two he happens to own and compete for wrist time.

Yes, my comment was towards the 2254 not getting worn for a little while, whilst I’m in the honeymoon phase with the Explorer.

It was further down someone commented comparing both.

Love it - I think it's one of the best values in a steel sport model Rolex.

Congrats!

That’s a beauty! I picked up a white one a month or so ago, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. I swapped out the oyster for a jubilee, I like the look and it’s very comfortable.

..I’ve owned both Seamaster 2254s and Rolex sports (GMT’s, explorers, subs daytonas) and don’t get me wrong - I absolutely loved this Seamaster.. Love the sword hands that dial.. In fact it has much dna from the 1960’s Seamaster 300 models..Yes good quality bracelet and clasp.. But I just think that the Rolex sports are a band above this model.. More refined..They have a smoother (silent) wind.. 2254 has noisy rotor compared.. Rolex generally more desirable on the resale market..Anyway just my opinion..

That’s one of the first things I noticed - I couldn’t believe the difference in the feel of the movement. SO much smoother to wind..! I’m glad I’ve made the move up to Rolex.

very nice! I had a black dial explorer 2 for almost a week before it went back to the ebay dealer for aftermarket dial. went polar the second time around. It was also my first rolex as I had saw it walking past Alltiques in the bowery and John had about 3 polar explorer 2s. Once upon a time they went $4,200 no box/papers

Just a half hearted attempt at a picture today..

Totally in love with this watch. I’ve also realised how much I love a watch with an almost non-existent bezel. This fixed bezel doesn’t get in the way at all.

This has been my grail for such a long time, it’s so understated. I’m yet to have anyone notice its ‘a Rolex’ - As in, even non watch people comment as soon as they see one, from past experiences. The matte dial has always been my favourite, the polar is just a bit too bright for me, it doesn’t blend in as a watch for every occasion, in my own opinion.

This is definitely a long term keeper for me.

Another half hearted attempt - but it’s not bad..

I’ll get better with photos.

Love the black 16570 and I'm one of those that prefers it to the polar dial.

Right, I have a lovely 2254 and a Sub 14060, both dive watches that can go to 300m, I would compare these watches closely with plus and minus points for both... but like the 16570 the 14060 is in a different price class, here in the UK the these 5 digit Rolex's are £5/6K+ the 2245 is way less than £2k.

In my eyes this makes the 2254 a bargain..

Congrats on the exp2. Terrific watches and the best value Rolex sports model on the market. I’ve considered picking one up myself a number of times and they have a cool vibe about them.

enjoy 👎

Agreed - the 2254 is a bargain for how robust it is.
I gave in and put mine back on the wrist for today, the Explorer will be on the wrist tomorrow. Just a quick rotation to keep it wound, until my winder arrives.
