First Omega

Hey all!

I just joined the forums (have lurked on and off for a little bit) and wanted to drop in and show you all my newest purchase I’m extremely proud of. My closest friend and I have basically been going back and forth with this for months, and I finally worked up the nerve to grab one. He says he’s going to get his (a matching SeaMaster 300 Professional) this weekend.

It’s my first Omega and I could not be more excited about it. I can already see me collecting more. I’ve had an affinity for wristwatches since I was a kid, and have loved this one since I saw Pierce Brosnan with his in Goldeneye, as I’m sure many of you did as well.

Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone here, seems like an amazing resource.

Thank you all!

First of all Congrats and great choice!

You can't go wrong with that watch. The only thing I would say, (that isn't in the manual) is not too worry about your first dent/scratch or be afraid to wear it anywhere. I think this applies to any "luxury" watch purchase but my first was the most memorable. I hated myself for messing up such a beautiful piece so quickly(3 months) . But now a few years later, I'll never forget that (dent in a speedmaster bezel) and it makes that piece so much more important to me. It has many more "imperfections" now, but it took a while for me to look at them as my experience with that watch vs. something else. They are tool watches after all.

Other than my rant, enjoy it! Wear it in good health and use this forum as your encyclopedia. Good luck only having one Omega....

Great Advice!

I can already see myself kind of favoring it in such a way as you may a brand new car. Don’t want to get any dings or dents! But, I’ll definitely work on that. Just ordered a NATO strap to customize it a little bit.

Not sure if it matters but in case someone else is price researching like I was, I got it for $4710,40 out the door. Feel like I got a pretty solid deal. That’s 20% off retail.

Middle Tennessee. My local AD is Jared’s but they are getting rid of carrying them so they’re basically handing out 20% off without you even asking. I have a friend in East Tennessee and it’s the same story for him.

If you’re interested, jump on it pretty quickly. Once omega sends them the shipping labels, they’re gone!

Interesting enough when I called the closest Jareds here in PA they said the east coast stores don't carry Omega. 😵‍💫

Great timepiece , i got the black version since 1 week also . It certainly does look good , i do have some bad points also , comparing it to my old PO , but it is a stunning watch . In current Omega lineup , i do not see anything better .

Yeah, it seems to be location dependent. For example, this location didn’t have any Longines in the store, but had Omega ‍♂️

Darn you did it right I was screwing around with dynamics and vintage seamasters for quite a while as my “first omega”. I think I had like 10-15 seamsters from the 40’s-60’s and one day it hit me they all looked too similar and I wasn’t really into them. I did have fun and learn during the hunt but there is a lot to be said for just getting what you really want off the rip. My situation was a bit rough back then anyway so I did what I could.
That’s a beauty you got there I got my first SMP from a very fine gentleman here last year and I love it. Means a lot to me and I made a good friend during the transaction. So congrats and enjoy you did very well.

Congrats, my first omega was the predecessor of this one from 2016, in black. I now have 4 Omegas, I doubt this will be your last one👍
