First Omega Moonwatch 1861

Hello,

I've been a long time reader but never posted. I just made a deal with member Demollo to purchase a hesalite Moonwatch, caliber # 1861. I've wanted a Moonwatch for quite a while and the time was finally right. This is my first luxury watch as well so that makes it even more exciting.

Anything I should be aware of regarding the 1861 Moonwatch? I ride a motorcycle (Harley Road King) is it safe to wear the 1861 while riding (I'm thinking of how the vibrations might affect the watch)? I understand not getting too close to magnets, but I don't work with any strong magnets (at least to my knowledge), beside maybe my Macbook, though I tend to remove my watch while typing (otherwise the clasp gets scratched by the edge of the laptop).

Lastly, I want to pick up a few Nato straps. Anyone has a favorite brand (non-Omega)? I have heard of Bark & Jack as well as Crown & Buckle.

Thanks!

Congrats on the Moonwatch, nothing to be aware of on the watch, just wind it fully and wear it. I used to wear my 861 Speedmaster when I had a BMW R75/6 in the late 70's (before bikes had clocks) and after every ride the watch had a discrepancy of 15 to 20 seconds due to the vibrations. I just don't think it is good practice to wear a watch while riding, I haven't worn a watch when riding for years since the time is readily available on the instrument cluster now. If you are travelling overnight that might change the equation but for a day out my watch just stays home. It's unreadable anyway under my Dianese jacket and gloves.
