First Omega In Space / FOIS on bracelet

I ended up buying an Omega clasp and not just clasp cover for my Forstner bracelet because of the different locking mechanism. Any suggestions on where I should buy the tools to take out that clasp pin? Would I be able to re-use the clasp pin from the Forstner or do I need to find some kind of replacement? The Omega clasp is from a 1162/173 bracelet.

Same tool used to remove links from your bracelet, just pushing from one side.
I'm confident that you will be able to reuse the clasp pin.

I used two micro screwdrivers to remove the links on my Forstner. They use screws and not push pins for that, but they told me the clasp pin is reusable like you say so that's good news! Currently awaiting the pin and collar link removal tool I ordered. I also bought an Omega clasp cover with a different style than the one that came with the clasp I bought so I can switch them out if desired. Will hopefully be able to do it this weekend and will post up results.

Many bracelets use push pins, like Uncle Seiko. I'm sure you'll find it an easy task. Show us after arrival!

Woohoo! Ended up getting the pin removal tool today and just did it...couldn't wait. I love the new clasp. It fits me more comfortably and I like the 33mm length of the clasp cover rather than the smaller Forstner clasp cover. The clasp itself opens and closes more easily and doesn't have has much resistance, which I like when taking it on and off. The clasp is also shorter so it's not a longer piece of flat metal against the wrist (first photo shows that).

I have a more vintage looking Omega clasp cover on the way from Canada without an ETA/tracking # but will put that on later to see if I like the look more. I like this one a lot in person more than I thought I would. The Forstner bracelet which has the stretch links near the clasp + this clasp imo are perfect for the FOIS. My FOIS has a vintage service caseback so it makes it more comfortable too rather than the regular one with huge emblem that indents your skin. Well worth the $70 for this mod.

Hello!
I’ve heard that the new Ed White speedy 321 bracelet will fit with the FOIS since they both have the same case size (39,7mm) and lug width (19mm). Can anyone confirm? Have anyone tried out this combo yet?

I think that is a big question a lot of fois owners are waiting to see. As far as I know, no one has attempted to mount an ed white bracelet on a fois.

But I believe I read that the ed white endlinks have protrusions that would prevent a simple mount onto a fois.

Anyone with more knowledge will confirm.

The A11 50th (20mm) and Ed White 19mm endlinks do have that lip that matches the impression on the case. You'd have to grind it down to have a chance, but probably not worth the hassle.

Just got my new clasp cover to replace the clasp cover on the Omega 1162/173 clasp I bought recently. I prefer this one for now as I think it has a more vintage look and I like the polished sides with brushed center that matches the finish pattern on my Forstner bracelet. I think this completes the mods for my FOIS and it's now exactly what I wanted. 😀 Btw I bought this clasp cover off Ebay from a Canadian seller. Same size as the other with it being 33mm long and 17mm wide outside (16mm inside).

Very nice! I have a few Omega clasps but can't recall if they're the fully-brushed or combo ones. Either way I'm going to try out the Forstner this weekend in place of the US so will try to dig out the clasps then. Congrats, and thanks for the updates.

No problem. Looking at the clasp cover I just got, I think I may go with another one (this one if I can find it http://www.tungchoywatch.com/product_info.php/products_id/500). That Omega logo is shaper than the one I have and more circular rather than elliptical. I know the really old Omega clasps had some really elongated logos and weren't as sharp as the more modern ones and it caught my eye seeing the zoomed photos. In person I really can't tell.

I think third time was the charm as this is yet another clasp cover I bought and I think now it's done. I think it originated from the clasp I linked in that post. I like this logo more as it's the modern one (circular and not elliptical) and it's noticeably smaller and higher up on the clasp. So now I have my Forstner clasp and two other Omega clasp covers sitting in the box in case I ever decide to change it out again. 😀

Left one is the older one and right one is the new one I just put on.

A rep at my local OB let me know that they think the 321 bracelet may fit with different spring bar. They ordered extra ed white bracelets anticipating all the FOIS owners buying them up. They are going to call me when the bracelets arrive at the store. Fingers crossed it really fits. Has anyone actually tried it?

I got Uncle Seiko bracelet for my FOIS, then brushed out US logo with polishing paper, after that laser engraved Omega logo. Here what it looks like:

And some photos
Great job. You can also exchange easily your clasp with ebay Omega ones. They cost around 40$.
