First Omega, but I think I was sold a 'Franken' watch.

I think an important comment has been glossed over….what did the watch smell like?
Dude it was the wrist cheese was RANK. Like cheddar, zinc, and my college roommates backpack.

If you purchase a watch from a japanese dealer on chrono or ebay, most of the time the description in the add is really short and you have to do your due dilligence. You can get great deals from Japan but you need to be careful. However, most of the time you can return the watch without any questions. But this depends on the dealer.

Further, no example photos of this watch in this config existed before the thread was posted.

That is complete nonsense. An image search shows many examples...

Some of you want to see the listing because you think you are the return or validation police or something. Also, why name the dealer when something could have been changed by the prior owner during the Clinton Administration?

Nothing was changed by a prior owner. This is a completely stock Omega right as it came from the factory. The 168.1501 case was for the 1109 version of the 25018100 reference. When Omega changed to the 1120, the case changed to 168.1601 - the 1120 is slightly taller than the 1109.

The fact that you still seem to believe there's something wrong with this watch, and won't show us the listing, pretty much tells me what I need to know.

As someone who often resells watches (me personally) if I sold it to you

The chances you making sales here I think are kinda low...

So many people show up, ask a question or two then disappear. I can see if someone isn't interested in watches but the OP seemed to be, including being a reseller.

I'm amazed at how helpful and patient many of the members here are to brand new members making posts like his. It's certainly entertaining for me to read through, current or old posts.

I couldn't agree more. Although for me this post was painfully entertaining.

Wow, what a painful read. You can't expect randoms to have any amount of humility. Or know anything. I feel almost certain the listing was correct, and the seller got a bit burned. Half expect OPie took a hammer to the watch before mailing it back. But it is good to know OPie paid for the return shipping.

On the other hand, it is really a minefield out there. At first, when you know nothing, you are happy if the watch resembles the pictures. Then, when you know a tiny bit, you are paranoid and making stuff up like OPie. It takes a long time before you really know enough to buy watches based upon pictures from strangers with any amount of knowledge and confidence.

We can tell the OP was scared and couldn't get over it. The relationship with the watch was broken. I hope he finds his holy grail by dispelling his doubts.

Reading this post was very informative because I'm also interested in this watch, which isn't often discussed. I still prefer the 2506.80 version with the dolphin dial. I never bought it because of the taxes and the fact that they're rarely found outside of Japan. It's too risky for a return shipment.
