First luxury watch: AT 150 38?

What about a Rolex Datejust 1601 36mm?

Have you considered such option?
Thanks, Alberto. That’s a good question! I tried it on once. It didn’t win me over. To me, the cyclops seemed to crowd the dial of the 36mm case. Also, $5400 for an AT is really the upper limit of my budget, and a Datejust is considerably more than that—though I have to admit, it’s an absolutely classic watch!

I have the original AT with a blue dial (2503.80). It was my first luxury watch purchase also. I love it.

Wow, that looks good! Cool bracelet!

Thanks! The braclet is a cheap $35 Hadley Roma mesh...I keep the Omega bracelet in my watch box but I love this look. Btw, I was like you and wanted a new “luxury” watch and had set my budget around 5k. But it wasn’t enough for a new OP and I wasn’t stretching my budget further as I already felt somewhat guilty spending that much on myself when I have 3 young boys to raise. Then I saw this on the sales forum on here for way under my budget and it ticked all my boxes. Great looking watch that is a true go anywhere do anything piece...39.2 mm, modern co-ax movement (2500c) and had original B&P too. No brainer for me.

Yes, I really like that the AT is dressy but also sporty and, as you say, a “go anywhere, do anything piece.”
I really appreciate your mentioning the guilt factor associated with indulging in a luxury watch, especially for a family guy. I feel that, too.

This definitely isn’t a cheap hobby that’s for sure. Has a way of making you feel like dropping 5k makes you poor. Lol
