new to the forum but how do you guys verify someone is legit to buy from?
After a solid couple of weeks of hunting for a vintage 1960s 565 cal and the group drilling my naive self for almost spending $1500+ on watches so quickly. I believe I have been patiently hunting for this watch. Would love your thought on legitimacy if anything strange catches anyone’s eyes.

The seller is from Vietnam.
$500 total
1966 Omega Seamaster Ref. 166.002 Cal 565
Unpolished
Original dial and crown
Unknown service and accuracy testing

From an omega forum user that has sold about 20 watches on the forum before. They provided tons of photos. Here a few. I thought it was strange how difficult it is to see the “Swiss made”

“Swiss Made” Angle of photo. Common on some models

There’s two things, is the watch legit and is the seer legit.

Seller - I’ve no idea who it is so can’t comment. Even when a seller is recommended, a buyer should do their due diligence to satisfy themselves the seller is genuine.

Watch - it’s legit. The crown isn’t original, it’s a Service replacement. Swiss made being hidden may be the angle of the photo or because a non Omega crystal has been fitted (or a genuine crystal that isn’t correct for this model).

Nice watch at fair price IMO, I dont see any issues, dont worry about crown youre better off with a replacement crown if youre going to wear it, more water resistant.

It is hard to say for sure but, It looks like the crystal lacks or has the wrong tension ring. After market crystals may have this as an issue. I have a number of this reference and I am of the opinion that if you can find a correct crown, get it.
