Here's a new arrival for me, Universal Geneve Aero-Compax, on the original bracelet (marked 2/68). So can I join this wonderful club of UG enthusiasts? Jeff
For sure, welcome to the club. I guess all of us will be pleased to see what will come next. Be aware that there are a lot of beautiful Universal Geneve (Tri-Compax, Polerouter, Compur...) out there... BTW really great looking Aero-Compax!!
Hi Jeff, glad to have you here! Congrats on the Aero-Compax, love the original GF bracelet too! I hope this is the first of many!
Thanks for the nice comments. I have always wanted one of theses 24 hour guys, and was very happy to find this one on the GF bracelet. It's interesting to me that the UG shares so many things with the Heuer Autavia (both are late 1960s, manual-wind chronographs, in 40 mm round cases, with rotating bezels, with classic movements, on GF bracelets). But in other ways, they are very different watches -- starting with black and white dials; the 12 hour and 24 hour indications; the movement makers (Valjoux and Venus); small and standard size registers; numerals or markers; snap-back (compressor) and screw-back cases, etc. Still, they share a look / style / vibe . . . classic 1960s chronographs, before it all went crazy in the 1970s.
Nice pick up Jeff! You are definitely more than welcome here I'm just curious about the Compax - it's a 15 minute counter! I'm so used to seeing 30/45 min counters that this is new to me
Great watch! I was eyeing this example for my first UG (I think...was it from EWC in Boston? The scuffs on the 24 hr marker look the same as the one I was considering). Congrats!
Yes, it's from European Watch Company, in Boston. An awesome store, if you are ever in Boston, and great guys to work with, by internet or phone.
Great to see you over this side of the fence Jeff. You can also show your Heuer on our sister site https://forums.calibre11.com/ Same log in and password as this site
I knew you would eventually yield to the Dark Side ... Nothing like starting at the top Jeff. Great looking super dupa Pilot watch ! Welcome
David is a great guy who runs the site too, was a pleasure meeting him at the Sydney Heuer Globetrotter event!
