This is my favorite at this pricepoint at this moment in time. I felt differently earlier today and may feel differently tomorrow but in my collection, this is for me attractive - the 1960s white enamel dial automatic railmaster. Doesn't quite have the cachet of the 1950s to early 60s manual wind version but is also more affordable. It houses a cal. 550 in a 34mm stainless steel screwback case. A few were recently listed on ebay with one completed sale at a bit over $900. This example of mine came from the original owner, lived in a drawer after about 1 month of use and has never been polished or opened. I think it is an uncommon watch in uncommonly good condition.

Check that out! That might be the perfect specimen to represent the 55x series since it also covers a different series. Previously I wanted a Constellation 167.005 to have a dog leg lug since selling my 168.005, but that Railmaster might be a better option.

ref. 14381, cal. 551. I bought it for $750 several years ago, and I suppose its true worth is somewhere between that and $1000.

Yep, I would have said $1250 - $1400. These ss pie pans, especially with cross hair dials, are really going up.

Okay, point taken. I humbly withdraw my entry, and congratulate myself for my foresight! Or just being at the right place at the right time. 馃槈
