have any of your progeny expressed a serious and sincere interest in your watch collecting habit?

I've a 19 year old who appears to have a genuine interest in mechanical watches which makes pop very happy.

He seems to have take a particular liking to big old tool watches like Seiko divers and Swiss made supercompressors.

How about you? Any budding watch enthusiasts living under your roof?

Yes, lucky to have 2 boys, 10 and 13 and HUGE thanks to OB Fashion Valley San Diego, held a Fathers Day event that gave me the opportunity to expose them on a WHOLE different level.

My son (or maybe his mother), got me a storage box for fathers day the other week. Holds a few quartz watches that obviously don't need to be in a winder, along with some straps .

Mr 2YO disappears after I open it, then comes back with his watch, declaring, "Dino's watch goes in the box too!"

Suffice to say, I was a little chuffed.

My 5 year old is very mechanical and we had a great time disassembling a $5 pocketwatch together last month. Though today he asked me indignantly, 'Dad, why do you use all your computer screen time to look at watches?' (I think he was just angling for my phone so he could play some games...)

I have an almost 6 month old daughter at the moment.
I am VERY in to cars/racing and I would only consider watches to be a small hobby.
I am not going to push anything on her necessarily (says this while tuning up old go-kart that has been in storage for a while...) but I will definitely introduce her to all the things that I enjoy (cars, racing, watches, space, etc.) and see what happens...but I've got a while...

Over the years, I have given our son a Rolex Air-King Date which I promptly re-possessed after he wrecked it. When he was younger, I gave him junkers I’d repaired, all of which he promptly wrecked. Over the last ten years or so, I have given him a Tudor gold shell automatic, a Seiko mechanical diver, a generic Seiko quartz which kept leaking, and a Bulova mechanical diver (60s vintage). He has liberated the odd mechanical watch out of my huge stash, but I never see those on his wrist. But most often when we see him, he’s wearing a Timex of some sort that he has bought, himself. So I’d say he’s not interested in watches. When I kick the bucket, he has told me he will be donating my marine chronometers to our local maritime museum! I get the feeling he will liquidate my collection of 120 + watches, and buy a car! If I ever receive advance notice that my days are numbered, I liquidate the whole collection, and by a gold urn to keep my ashes in.

hehehehehehe, luv it !!!1!1!!1

My 20 year old son is very interested in watches, since he was in 1st grade and would wear a 45mm Coleman digital multifunction quartz on his tiny little wrist, then a timex, and then a Casio. His current collection includes a Series 1 Apple Watch PVD Black, a radio controlled Casio Pro-Trek, a Luminox diver and a Luminox dressy looking watch, a birth year Omega SMP Bond quartz diver, and a 2 year old Omega X-33 Skywalker.
Not too shabby!!!

Oh, wow ....he looks like a real pro, especially in that last photo.

Only my youngest of 3 has shown interest, but I did buy my oldest a TinTin as a college graduation gift.

That picture is very cool. It's double cool!

My wife and daughter both received late-1960s 'C' Constellations in 18k that I had refurbished for them. Daughter alternates that with her vintage Piaget dress watch but Wifey prefers her quartz Cartier for convenience. They often wear them to match mine when on family trips together...

What a great thread.

Son (17) wears an Omega hummer and loves it. It looks fantastic on him.

Daughter (21) wears a Speedy Auto Date and loves it. It looks fantastic on her. She wishes me a happy #speedytuesday every Tues.

I have now successfully infected my whole family with a love of Omega as my wife too, wears a hummer.

My work here is done.
