Hi All,

Watches turn up in the most unusual places

Few weeks ago I had a call off my father in law asking if I knew about omega watches as his nephews wife has found one while downsizing her house she recalls her husband got off his father in law when they got married in the 70's.

Her father got it off a mate who had been in the navy

Alls he knew from talking on the phone was that it was a omega watch which said seamaster on it

Its been sitting in a drawer for the last 30 or so years as it stopped working

Fast forward to today and father in law turns up tonight with this for me to look at as she has given it to the father in law as a thank you for helping her with the downsizing 馃槻

Wasn't running but when taking off the back noticed a screw from the auto bridge missing took off the bridge and screw was next to the balance took it out and started up right away

He's deciding what to do with it as he's not a watch person but knows I am

Sorry for the bad pics but night here ill do some better ones in the morning

I love the bund strap on it

A true drawer find! What's your plan? Will you get a repro bezel on it or try and find an original?

Such a great watch - a nice thing to have in the family, be it yourself or your father-in-law.

Cheers guys even I was shocked when he told me about it

What's throwing me are the hands being pencil I've looked under a loupe at the movement and apart from me removing the auto bridge the screws look completely untouched no service marks the seconds hand looks like its never been off the watch

If you can buy it go forward.

And keep it in as is condition, don麓t polish it. Maybe you are lucky to find an original bezel some day (but be prepared that it will cost you one kidney at least 馃槈).

Just get it a general movement service and clean, leave the rest well alone and original. The stick hands in a 14755 are not canonical but have seen a few, are the same as the immediately subsequent 165.014 and some transition is possible. And then the first years of 165.024.

for the bezel, with some luck and cash you may find an original, if not McGiver, Aldo or Renee could provide an esthetically-pleasing insert/paint.

When people use the term 'drawer find' THIS is is what you would like to see 馃榿

Keep as is, and try to find correct bezel and bracelet.

Wow! Top find!
Leave that dial alone! Wouldn't blame you if you sorted a bezel though.
