Someone before had asked about watches with the full box etc, and shouldn't this separate the fakes from the genuine. This showed up on Craigslist in my area in the last couple days. Description is:

"I got a brand new clone 1=1 to OMEGA 007 SPECTRE all the markings lollipop second hand water resistant super light titanum weight whit the 007 strap luxury omega box and papers txt me if intrested"

Pictures:

Appalling. At least the Craigslist seller is admitting that it's a fake, however.

The writing on the case back is too thick, anti-magnetic and the gauss script looks wrong. Here's a crappy iPhone shot of mine for comparison.

Also barrel one and two are in the wrong places as well, damn these fakes are good though!

In the picture of the real Omega you can see the pins (terminology) in the jewels. Is it true that in fakes, like the one shown, the jewels are not as defined as the real one?

Hi, How can you tell ?
I know how a fake one would look like. Browse through the fake forums and you learn a lot. The dial. The hour markers. The thick bezel inner silver ring. And the fact that it's with the correct 007 box along with a certificate of authenticity further shows that it's genuine. Of course a shot of serial number and cards plus the boutique it was purchased from stamped on the card would further proof it's authenticity.

Ok I will come clean - bought it last night after waiting for 18 months to find one in my price range.

Lovely guy who sold it to me hadn’t even worn it, and the best thing is I got it for £6,400 !

I registered on here yesterday to get some help on finding out if it was Gen, and exactly like you said I did lots of research before turning up with a stack of cash.
Took one look at it and could see the huge differences in quality between the vsf and my one.

When I put it on he almost died as he had only ever took it out to give it a shake and wonder at its beauty.

No 2800 of 7007 and is called penny

Many thanks

Lucky lucky you! Still pretty expensive. That's way beyond it's original retail price. I'm planning on getting the standard model since the Spectre model is selling too high now in the preowned market. Unless I come across one at a good deal, I'll just make do with the standard model and slap a nato strap on it.

By the way, please share more pics of the watch please! Lucky lucky!

^^^^ Watchbox do a great show where they look at a real and fake PAM, the fake (with the boxes and papers) is VERY convincing. Interesting watch.

Wow, that's scary. Last time I saw a 300 faked this good, it was still a Miyota finished to look like an 8400, but the escapement was the dead giveaway. Never seen a movement cover before. Insanity.

Hi all, sorry to revive an old thread. Makes a very interesting read! I started another thread about my trials and tribulations of buying a SM300MC but thought this would be a good place to ask people’s thoughts about authenticity of a watch. Please feel free to contact delete and I’ll copy across to my other thread if needed.

Here’s the link with the photos posted below for ease:
https://swisstimelondon.co.uk/watches/omeag-omega-seamaster-23330412101001/

My personal observations, helped by reading the thread:

Positives:
The ‘barrel’ writing looks in the correct location on the movement.
The crown is polished.
The ‘Seamaster’ and ‘300’ line up correctly on the case back.

Negatives:
The writing on the back just looks a bit black and thick - although I saw similar on a googled photo.
I can’t see the writing on the first link on the bracelet (I don’t know a lot about bracelets tbh).

I’m not an expert in any of this but thought I’d share my thoughts and ask for some help along the way.

Cheers, H.

Looks legit to me, based on what I can make out from the photos.

It is legit, you can tell by the balance bridge area with the balance wheel, the fakes look totally different with a regulator sticking out on the side on the fake 8400 movements. Also the jewels from what I can tell have all the pivots.

That’s great guys, thank you. The more I’ve compared it to a genuine movement and a fake the more similarities and differences I can spot. Always learning on here. Cheers.

Does this come with a return policy? Seems low risk of being a fake and you surely will be able to know for sure once in your hands. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but i can’t imagine the fake movements have the time zone function of the jumping hour quickset.

That looks good. The tell on the fakes would be the regulator on the movement and the lack of liquidmetal numerals on the bezel. And because its not liquidmetal, the numbers disappear under heavy reflection. Liquidmetal filled numbers don't do this.

Cheers, 30 days as far as I can see but would need to check first. Hadn’t thought about the quickset hour hand - must be a tell surely.
