    These are two ref. 566.007.

Though the reference might be interesting, I guess Mr. Bond wouldn't wear them often.

Thank you for sharing! They also appeared on the Italian platform “subito” advertised as NOS with an asking price around 1000€ :(

Hi all, completely new member here. First of all, a big thanks to everyone here. This forum is an unparalleled source of knowledge and enthusiasm. This and other Omega Seamaster 120 posts have helped me a lot! Thank you.

Now for the matter at hand. I have been searching for a proper Omega Seamaster 120 for some time now. I was recently offered one (ref 166.027) from a trusted seller, which has some obvious 'tells' qua this and other (very helpful) posts detailing the pitfalls regarding this particular vintage model. Despite this, the seller insists on its authenticity. Since it is a trusted one, I wanted to double check my initial thoughts here. There are also some new facets that I have never seen before, which might be interesting for some of you. Unfortunately, I don't yet have a photo of the movement.

Now, first of all, there are:
    1) Backside: Ω-sign in wrong place, pointed A's, different text (120M instead of 120 and 'tested', which I haven't seen before), lacking engraved circle.
    2) Date-magnifier. I am told by the seller, this is authentic and original, though I haven't seen it anywhere else. This makes me curious. Do you know, whether this is a known feature? The glass has an omega-sign on the backside .
    3) Notch at 3 and 9 look somewhat off.
    4) The hands seem new. Unsure about bezel.
    5) To me, the dial seems alright.

In addition, I have a general question about the Omega Seamaster 120's date function. I see models with both white and black date backgrounds, but I have been unable to figure out whether both are genuine and what references come with one or the other.

Your thoughts on this are much appreciated. 90217608_227922301660784_4317530958229143552_n.jpg 92789850_2556352141283812_674513837763854336_n.jpg Bagside.jpg Side 1.jpg

Okay I get that they are fake. Not all of us can afford genuine ones for 2-3k or whatever they sell for.
They make reproduction Seiko 6139 dials/cases etc and nobody bats an eyelid.

All of a sudden the great fear that your beloved 'genuine' Seamaster 120m will be de-valued and your safe full of untouched moonwatches could potentially loose 2% of value.

Are you guys the watch police? Let ebay do the monitoring and Omega itself will chase up any aftermarket manufacturers.

The same sort of nonsense started in the automotive scene when a prominent guy was making stickers/replacement parts for Volvo that are NLA and someone obviously kept dobbing him in and now the enthusiast scene doesn't have a source for parts.

I for one would build a 'replica' 120m seamaster simply because I can't spend the amount on a real one and will quietly enjoy the replica on my own wrist.

They are counterfeit and they are passed off as genuine. When people pay real watch money for a fake how do you justify that?

If you can't afford what you are looking for, save up or buy something else.

And I strongly disagree with your point re. Seiko aftermarket parts. Watches with those parts identified have markedly lower prices than the genuine article.

Let the "aftermarket manufacturers" market their wares as such - and not as genuine parts/watches - and we wouldn't have to report it. Have everyone installing these parts in their watches state this on point of sale and see what happens.

So, no-one does this you say? That's funny, reading your post it would seem like it wouldn't matter anyway. No, they are sold as the genuine article and people who aren't as clued up as the most informed collectors buy these fairly expensive watches thinking that they now own a piece of history, an artifact that has stood the test of time and now sits on their wrist… I feel sorry for those who discover that their watch was put together by someone looking for a bit of profit five years ago.

Want to look at how the production of parts for vintage watches is done right? Look at how Uncle Seiko produces, brands and sells his bracelets made for vintage watches; no deception going on there.

If your product isn't good enough to be marketed under your own name, but you have to rely on deceiving people, you can fuck right off.

Ehm. Where is this coming from? Let ebay do the monitoring? Really?

I appreciate that experience collectors here on OF care about first time omega buyers and that they report and warn new buyers.
