Hello fello members 😀!

This watch is on auction on my local auction site. The Current price is 3900 Euro which is a bit over my normal price range of my other watches.
According to seller the movement has been serviced 2 years ago.
Comes without any boxes or certificates.
Some searching on the internat indicate that these watches are priced around 4000-5000 Euro is this totally of?
Here's some photos

Regards Kristian

I expected this to pop up here a lot earlier... 😀

There are stains on the dial, around 3 o clock. What caused them I can’t say, but cleaning a dial isn’t exactly something I’d want to count on:

Note that I specifically had to ask for the picture above. It’s impossible to see in the pictures of the ad and it’s not mentioned in the description.

On top of that, the seller has a history of selling (undisclosed) redials. This one is correct, yes, but the stains on the dial and some stomach pain regarding the seller make this a no for me, unfortunately. 4K€ is definitely not absurd for this example, though.

No, it's a private person (or so it seems) in Gothenburg, apparently. But yeah, when I saw those pictures, a few dealers popped into my mind that the seller seems to have learned from.

That stain sometimes means original and untouched.
After 60 years, the lacquer coat has dried up and became dirty stuff like that. ( easy to clean up).
Still need better pics to make sure if this is the case.

I prefer to leave the old lacquer like that.

Hi!

I actually came through and bought the watch. A bit of a gamble since I’m by no means an expert, but I seeked advice from someone I trust. Better pictures will follow for a closer inspection of the dial. Until then - does someone know what it’s suppose to weigh? (If you do not want to disclose it here you can send me a PM).

I know you're trying to gauge whether the case really is solid 18K but weight alone won't tell you that. You really need to visit someone competent to inspect hallmarks and make tests. A manufacturing jeweler with a watchmaker on site would be ideal.

Thank you for the response. I did not know that - will make sure to do this.

Where are all the hairs coming from? Are they under the crystal or outside ? And what is the 8 on the 7 o’clock arrowhead - another hair or a scratch on the crystal?

Thank you for the response. I did not clean it off properly before taking the pictures. It seems like the thing right above the "eight" is a hair on the inside of the crystal. Most of the rest is removed now using a cloth. The crystal has been cracked below 6 o'clock as is evident in the last picture, perhaps the hairs have entered this way? (Although I can't see a clear hole through which they could've gone)

Also - the dial appears red/green in certain lights as in the picture below. Are these so called Newtonian rings or caused by the lacquer somehow?

Sorry to bother you @hoipolloi and @MtV but does the like mean you guys think the dial is original/untouched/authentic? 😁

I didn’t have doubts about the authenticity of the dial - and congrats to this specimen. 😀 I was “afraid” of the stains around 3 o clock on the dial and, as explained above, am sceptical regarding the seller.

I’d like to emphasize, though, that this is not to make your new acquisition appear bad in any way. Looking forward to more pictures of the dial, maybe even without the plexi. Wear it in good health and - most of all - wear it! They’re rare birds and belong on the wrist, in my opinion.

Those faded pink and green colors are common interference colors from high order reflections. Probably from the lacquer layer.

For what it's worth, I don't see any problems with the watch.

The 8 on the 7 pip is to save the owner from having to wind the watch on through 23 hours when the clocks go back in winter.
