Okay, fair enough. But Dan, not to be argumentative, just genuinely intrigued because I don’t see them this way. Can you share pictures of straps that you like better?

Seriously, not trying to stir up a pissing contest. These straps do look a bit stiff but that seems due to their being new and a bit thicker. But the leather looks nicely finished.

We can never have too many strap threads. 😀

Not to take away the OP's enthusiasm for his new straps, but I took a look at the website. The straps are nice enough. But at those prices, there are a few too many niggles (for me) on the finished straps that would make me unhappy.

Got to agree with that!
Myself I have had a growing yearning to get deployment buckles onto leather straps as buckled straps to me are a scary thing in that it's just too easy for a watch to slip from your grasp when putting it on and taking it off, this has led me to prefer SS bracelets which is a shame as some leather straps can look a million dollars and would benefit with a more secure fastening method.

I'm with you there. All my straps have butterfly deployants - all due to an incident at an airport security check well over a decade ago. As I was taking off the watch, it slipped off and hit the floor. Luckily, no damage. But from that day on, all my straps have deployants. To add a positive note, because deployants fasten the strap with far less stress than a pin buckle, my exquisite custom straps 👍 still look new, years after I've bought them.

That's swank! Yep for my Seamaster I ordered a strap style called the "Speedy Ridge" in a custom color. It's not stiff at all and is amazingly comfortable.

Honestly I was torn about the deployant, but I'm so glad I did it! It's super comfy and I feel much more secure with it. And it's darn pretty. Originally I was looking at Rolex clasps for my Rolex, but 1) they are absurdly expensive and 2) this is not the look I was going for. I am thrilled with the Omega deployant I chose. Not a bargain but now that I have it on my wrist, I'm extremely happy with it, as is my strap (which was custom made to fit the clasp.)

What's a niggle?

I really like the green lining. That will give me inspiration for a future strap project I’m sure.
As for the rest, Welcome to the forum.

There are a few imperfections that I can see (although it doesn't affect the overall integrity of the strap), that I wouldn't expect at this price point. While these are hand made and won't be "machine perfect", there's a bit more variance in the consistency than I would like. But, I'm getting in the nitty gritty and the strap, overall, is good strap.

As for deployants, I used to buy the RHD deployants well over a decade ago. I prefer butterfly deployants over single fold. But, needing 2 deployants per watch (generally 16,18mm, but have a few 20mm too) with well over a dozen watches in the rotation and at $50 USD per deployant, it got pretty costly. They are very good, though.

I tinkered with the cheapie Ebay ones, but the closing mechanism was bad. It tended to pop open with very slight pressure.

I finally found some better quality ones at Cousins UK at about 10 GBP each, but the shipping costs got to me - especially if I'm only ordering 1 or 2 at a time. Finally found ones with the exact same mech as the Cousins ones for about $5 USD each. This closing mech stays closed, even if one of the sides accidentally gets bumped.

You don't see many green linings, I have one on a strap I had made for my Speedy Tuesday 1 watch. Genteel racing strap.

Yep I strongly wondered butterfly clasps too- they are so cool! But I fell in love with the Omega single fold. It was not a bargain. Maybe about $250? Ouch. But I couldn't bring myself to by a cheap knockoff as I had read so many lousy reviews. And this one feels very solid. Snaps together perfectly and one needs to squeeze both sides to pop it off. I'm actually tempted to put one on my Seamaster but that ship has definitely sailed. Next one though!

Can you recommend a source?

I have this form of single deployment on my Raymond Weil and it's super comfortable and reliable, wrapping around the side of the wrist rather on the underside flat.

Have you had much success with the AliExpress suppliers for decent leather straps? Any recommendations?
I have found the quality a bit of a crap shoot having bought quite a few from various suppliers off AliExpress.
Have had some from your butterfly supplier but not the butterflys themselves, might be worth a go.

I've never ordered off Aliexpress for straps. I look at fleabay for the VN strapmakers. Individually hand-made and you can liaise easily with the maker. Aliexpress stuff (at least the ones I've looked at) is mass produced stuff to a price point. It costs a bit more through the VN makers (but still a bargain compared to known makers), but better than having a strap sit in a drawer that will never be used. A very, very good VN strapmaker is TJC Leather. He doesnt sell through Ebay and has his own website. The website Itself is a bit of a mess but he's very responsive if you contact him. Quality is just as good as established makers from the US and EU, but only charges about 1/3 of their prices.

NB: VN makers, like everybody else, have raised their prices. I miss the days (just a few short years ago) when I could order a croc strap for $15-30 USD. The aliexpress stuff (back in the day when they were ordered off ebay) used to go for $1-2 - which is probably what they were worth. Now, I see those same straps going for $25-30. Ridiculous.

I've tried quite a few different butterfly clasps. The one I linked seemed to be the best balance of price and design.

Nice straps but personally I find the law of diminishing returns pertinent with regard to straps.

The most I have paid for one is £80 from Accurate Form. It's shell cordovan and beautiful but last week I purchased a Horween leather one from Geckota on sale for £12 and I love it. Not much difference in a quality comparison.

Here it is on my DS

I got this weird thing going on with my alpanist. I got the uncle seiko BOR which fits and looks fine but I think leather on these makes the dial pop a bit more. I just can’t to find one I think is really doing it. Maybe green would be the way to go unless that would be over kill

Yeah, I agree. Frankly, I suspect that most of these so-called bespoke watch strap makers simply import them from Vietnam and mark them up 400%.

Well, if you look closely at Delugs, that's not far off the mark. They currently have a clearance sale for croc straps at $125 USD (discounted from $135 USD). My go-to strapmaker in VN, who does excellent work easily rivalling OEM, sells it for $95 USD.
