Expiring Episurf-neo

Hello,

So I want to service two vintage omegas and I need a small portion (2ml) of Episurf-neo, but the one I found on ebay expires in 2026 (march)

Now the question is, is it ok to use the episurf-neo even if it will expire next year? Or does that mean that I need to reservice them next year again..?

Is it new and sealed, or has it been opened?

The solvent used is quite volatile, and if it has been opened and some of the solvent has evaporated, it will concentrate the part of the solution that forms the film on the parts, which can cause some problems when it gets too extreme.

As long as it is a new container and hasn't been opened, you will be fine, but I always try to buy oils and other supplies like this with the longest time until expiry that I can. Also note that although the use of solutions like this a Fix-O-Drop are common, they are not mandatory - you just have to adjust how much oil you use on the escapement if you don't use these.

It s sealed (as fra as I m aware).
From what I understood, the episurf-neo is used so the oil doesn t spread (not necessarily control the amount of oil). Thus thought how this will act when its “expiry date” comes to play

You use less oil on the escapement without epilame than you do with...that is one of the main advantages of using it.
