Hi all,

while collecting mainly Omegas I am a complete noob at Rolex chronographs.

I have come across a SS chronograph which I consider to be a rare piece.

Has a screw back and screw down winding crown as usually the Oysters have, but only a single pusher.

The inner case back shows a 4 digit number which I supposed to be the Ref.# - it is 2507
Case main part has serial number 652xxx

I have searched AQ data base but for ref. 2507 there show up much earlier gold cased watches one with 40mm and the other remaining 2 with 31mm diameter - the watch in question is about 36mm without crown.
Christies and Sothebys don´t bring up anything either.
Google search either...

Please find attached pics of face, case back and movement (2 springs seem to be missing)

My questions:

1) I think that this movement was no "in house" caliber but rather a Valjoux or similar - right? Can somebody let me know the precise caliber#?
So it might be easier to find parts for replacement of the 2 missing springs.

2) does anybody know this model? 2507 as a ref# seems unlikely... Is it a rare watch and worth buying/restoring? (my gut feeling says YES)

3) Can anybody give me a rough estimate how much this watch is worth when complete and working?

Thank you a lot for your kind assistance.

regards
Erich

Very interesting watch. I've never seen a single pusher Rolex from this period (40s-50s). You could be right about the Valjoux movement; not at all uncommon to see them in the Rolex chronographs from this period. Definitely a great find!
