Never wore a watch at work as I had a manual job on a factory shop floor running different CNC and manual m/c tools.
So since taking early retirement at 61 in December 2019 I get to wear watches and rotate them daily.
I've also bought 2 Bremonts, 2 Tudors and 2 Breitlings since I finished and bought my missus a Tudor, an AT and a Bremont and gave her a Tag 2000.

I definitely don't worry about scratches and wear. Though I definitely do put on a beater if I'm doing something with a lot of potential for destruction, like swinging a sledgehammer.

I have an odd habit though: when I get a new watch, I tend to wear it exclusively for 6-12 months, and then get a new one. Since they are on my wrist for a long period of time, they seem to often become keepsakes that correspond to a particular time in my life. It's irrational and I should just unload a few to fund new purchases, but oh well.

But, if a watch has specific utility, it does enter the regular rotation: Omega Apnea for when I'm doing strength training or cooking; Bulova 666 reissue for beach/pool; Sinn 103 for when I actually need to time things at work, etc.

Had my Seamaster 300M Diver for a year, bar 2 weeks, and I am amazed at how my feelings have changed in that time.

I have worn it everyday, but take it off to sleep and ride my bike as use a Garmin for both.

At first I was itching to buy another watch, probably because I looked at and admired so many different styles over a condensed short period once I had decided to take the plunge in my first proper luxury watch. I don’t feel like that presently, even though I regularly look at new models and keep them up with the posts in here. Don’t get me wrong, I know another will be purchased at some point, but don’t feel the nag.

The other thing I have noticed is that I am now far less conscious of wearing it out and about. The initial feeling of not wanting to damage it or look too flash has definitely worn off, thankfully. The reality of the later being that people actually don’t care what you have on your wrist, if they’re not into watches. This suits me perfectly.

The constant throughout though, is that I definitely made the perfect choice for my first one, as still catch myself staring in admiration. That I am very thankful for. 😀

I have my Titanium Planet Ocean as a daily since I got it 2-3 years ago. I only take it off when working in the yard, on the house, or on my vehicles.

I don't have too many higher priced pieces, but I just bought the new Speedmaster a month ago and I have been wearing it daily. I'm not so concerned about dinging it (in fact I scratched the Hesalite within 5 minutes of being inside my house on day of purchase - banged it on the wall by mistake) but I am going to greater lengths than I usually do to keep the bracelet and case scratch free. I know it's inevitable that it will get scratched, but just trying to preserve the newness as long as I can.

That being said, none of this would deter me from wearing it daily. Same goes for any other watch I may purchase in the future. Waiting on the Rolex Explorer currently, which may or may not unseat the Speedmaster as my daily... I like the Speedmaster this much...but I would not hesitate to wear either as daily or semi daily pieces if they are competing for wrist time.

I have a speedy hesalite since 1999 (plus a sapphire sandwich since this year), in my experience the scratch on hesalite some how attenuate with time. I suppose that the edges of the scratch get “polished” by the watch usage and they become less visible. The watch can anyway be strongly scratched after years of active usage but you get used and then you “rediscover” it when it comes back from maintenance with a beautiful new hesalite…that you will soon or later re scratch 😀
