Wrong crown and the case isn't as sharp as you'd like. See mine for reference.

Amazing dial tho.
Yes, it wouldn't be one for thee or me, but I'm always happy to get the Eterna word out. (It may be that if I had imbibed fewer Aperols earlier I would have posted it to the ebay suggestions thread...)

You had? This is not selling material! This is 'buy and cherish' material 😉
Lovely hand set, great condition! I had a similar example, but it was lumed and far worse in condition.
You often dont see your mistakes after they are made.. 😉

Nice case but dial not equal, also interesting that its an Eterna-Matic, is it a full rotor movement?

I decided to wear the very first Eterna I ever bought. It's a 1969 Eterna-Matic 1000 with a 1489k movement. I bought it because I loved the look of it and thought it would look fantastic on my grandad's old silver bracelet.

You're right, the dials are similar but not equal.
This was a 1948 serial and therefore a first year -Matic.

I love them too, and as many around here know I also love patina, so this one was too hard to resist. But with a few incomings, it will be on the chopping block next. Was going to post later in the week, so if there any dibs I’ll throw it here first:

Superrrrr cool, but a very heavy price! That bracelet is done…
I fully agree. It would probably require at least €1k of work (crown is done for, too).
It is rare but it shouldn't fetch much more than the gold value in this condition.

I agree Eterna is a great brand and totally undervalued today. They seem to have disappeared from the AD’s, while some years ago they were still showing at Baselworld, and they had some attractive pieces, reasonably priced. Change in ownership and too many changes in management literally run them into the ground (just my opinion) .

here is my vintage Kontiki 130T with GF bracelet. Certainly far from perfect condition, but the built quality is obvious.

best,

Stefan

This one doesn't give a shizzle about some light drizzle. Late 1970s RQ with screw down crown and factory rated at 200m WR.
Good looking piece!

I think the patina is charming and I prefer the 34mm cases over the larger ones. Thanks for sharing.

The 34mm seem more like dress watches, while the 37mm have that chunky dive-watch feel. Choosing between them is like being forced to choose between one's children (though I have more Eternas than I do children, thankfully).

My last Eterna-Matic, my 1968 Kontiki 20 on my brand new Forstner BOR.

Eterna-Matic & Forstner BOR is a good combo 👍

As if Certina wasn't enough, lately I've been really intrigued by Eterna, and apart from two slightly unexciting Centenaire «61» I own I've started looking at those nice 1000s, 3000s and of course the Kontiki (130T, if someone has one to sell 😀.
Now an auction for a lovely if quite beat-up older Eterna-Matic has popped up, but I'm wondering about the dial – it somehow looks more like an Oris to me, with the «Eterna Matic» in 3D letters, and the lume dots surrounded by an outline.

Is this an «official» Eterna look?

(Pic is from the auction – if that's against forum rules, just tell me and I'll delete right away.)

Me too, very much so in fact. I'm just not sure if it's really Eterna, but then I'm very far from being an expert.

I could easily be wrong but... imo they missed the dot/hyphen between "Eterna" and "Matic"; it should say "Swiss" not "Swiss Made"; and you tend to get either daggers or batons rather than sharpened stick indices. I agree with your observations as well!
