Dunno about "odd" - the little Schild-schild on the dial is unusual: I know @Tony C. has one, but the caseback here is the "Five-Star". I'm not a fan of the bracelet the seller has chosen, but I think this is a nice watch!

Here it is!
The style is probably not really to my taste, however the condition and finishing are impeccable. Does anyone have more info on these models, like a vintage ad or catalogue or something? I'm very curious to details like retail price at the time.

Also, do you reckon this bezel is 18k gold?

Lovely glossy black gilt dial, love the detail that the date wheel is black and numbers is gold to match the dial 😀

Well, not long after parting with my last Centenaire Chronometer.. this one is on its way to me..

For reference, I found these online - not identical but both have the “old” Centenaire script. The gold one is up for auction in a few days..

Well, it arrived, and I’m very pleased. There’s a scratch on the dial near 3 and a few very minor scratches on the case.. otherwise it appears to be NOSish. Look at those lugs!

My questions:
1) Any way the crown is original? I haven’t seen this style on this case before but judging by the overall original condition, how the movement is close to untouched, etc., I would not be surprised if it’s original.
2) Think the croc strap is original?
3) Caseback sticker probably isn’t original, right? I plan to remove it and probably put a new one on.

I intend to reach out to Eterna on this one.. will see if they have any info on it.

That watch is just wonderful, thanks for showing it.

Good luck - if you do happen to get anywhere with them, please pass on the key route information: I didn't meet anyone so far who found contemporary Eterna to be too interested in archives (as opposed to heritage).

I reached out to Eterna a few years ago about my dad's watch that I inherited, a nice 18K Eterna from the early 60s. Anyway, here's what they said:
"Unfortunately, a lot of the ETERNA history is no longer available to us. Your watch reference is definitely no longer known to us and most probably older than 50 years. We can barely find information about models older than the 1970’s"

Good luck!

P.S. I think your strap is original. My father's had a similar originally but unfortunately it's long gone.

My take-
Watch is near NOS.
Strap and crown original.
5 balls crystal in place is original.
Only thing I can't explain is the scratch on the dial,
because the movement screws looked untouched to me.
So if it was never apart, how did that get there? During
assembly is the only answer. Like I said before, I think this
was made up special for someone. By Eterna of course.
My guess is the watch had an Eterna sticker on the caseback
and the paper part fell off years ago leaving the glue.
Beautiful watch! Enjoy.

I’ll inspect it further, but it looks to me like a regular plastic caseback sticker.. it’s still there, but it moved around leaving residue everywhere.

Lovely piece, congrats! Strap looks definitely old. These Centenaires have 19mm lugs though, but they didn’t really mind the 1mm gap between the strap and lug in those days. Could be very well original to this watch. I am actually looking for a buckle like this for mine, so if you see another, let me know!

I believe the buckle to be of later make ('70s approx.). The earlier ones should look like this, with the logo applied instead of engraved:

Do you know what era that is from? I’m guessing 50s. I think my watch 60s.. not sure when they changed style.
