I had a goldsmith adjust the tricky and full length Gay Frères to fit my small wrist. He ended up removing four links. What a gem.
I'm a sucker for so much lume. beauty!

Thanks guys! I agree, it is nearly impeccable in terms of condition. I am not a dark dial lover, however, so it'll probably appear in the private sales section some time soon.

Huge fan of Eterna. Their robustness is something only a few brands had in those days.

Here’s my latest addition, a Super-Kontiki 130-PTX with stunning dial and the rare dotted decompression bezel.

It cleaned up nicely after some toothpick-cleaning.

Hope it's all right to post my non-matic Eterna. From the 40's I presume - the "Tres Tacche" caseback prevents me from opening it on my own and learning more details. But I'm very happy with it - runs like a champ and I think it looks great on the Bradux bracelet I put on it.

That's a great looking little watch! Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks! I'm really happy with it - I've wanted a decent Eterna and a watch with Bauhaus-style numerals for a while so it feels great to combine the two into this little number. 😀

I am calling on the Eterna-Matic gurus. I just received a Centenaire in great condition, barring the lugs. It seems to me a substantial amount of its gold cap is missing. I assumed the entire topside of the lug should be covered, but several people proposed perhaps it should be like this since the chamfer runs along smoothly on the bare steel, and all lugs show this exact thing.
Thoughts please?

Some more snippets. I'm really puzzled by this one because the top side looks fine (this is how the seller fooled me).

However from the side you can tell that there's something up.

This deserves an update.
I have delved into the subject since, and have found ( 'with a little help from my friends' ) these lugs are indeed correct. In some gold capped watches, not limited to Eterna, the topside and only the topside was gold capped, meaning the cap isn't supposed to reach around the bend. Given the condition of the watch and the intricacy of the chamfers, logic dictated this to me from the get-go, but this was literally the first watch I had found to feature this finishing. Therefore I felt it couldn't be right. It now turns out I wasn't right.

I'll post some pics I snapped today, to make up for the long read. Initially, given my fear for the ruined lugs, I was unhappy with this acquisition. Knowing what I do now, however, I'd rate this watch in excellent condition and I am very pleased to wear it.

Oh, yeah. My Centenaire wasn't the only watch I gave some special attention to, today.

More pics to come soon 😀

Love this piece. What size are the lugs?
