Enicar Sherpa Graphs - recent increase in popularity?

Question for the group. I am really curious as to what has driven the recent increase in popularity for the Enicar chronographs? I have a mark IV sherpagraph and was looking around to find the white dialed version (mine is black and grey) or potentially sell mine and was shocked to see prices up over $6K now. this is a very recent trend as a year ago they were down around $2K. Is this where the Universal collector is turning now that Cal 281 compax and tri-compax models are out of this world?

As with the original Heuer Autavias, I think Rolex Daytona collectors are beginning to widen their interest in chronographs worn by racing drivers in the 1960s. Jim Clark was known to wear a Sherpa Graph.

I think most people weren't aware the even existed, and combined with the fact that they were produced in small numbers equals explosive price shift...they are just now catching up with the jones, and for good reason, they are high quality time pieces that were simple overlooked until now.

I agree with all of the above. High quality movement and frankly good looking watches. Granted the cases are mass produced cases but everything else, including the overall larger size, is a bonus. I was thinking of selling mine but may wait it out a little longer to see what happens. I totally missed the market when I sold my tri-compax collection so maybe I can time this one a little better. Here is a quick pick of mine.

probably won't sell. I like wearing it and they are on the rise.

Good luck either way. And they are definitely rising.

Has anything gotten cheaper in the last year?? Nothing I'm interested in, but maybe just my luck [emoji16]

I know right... Well, oil got cheaper actually... 😁 But the day to day consumer might not get to see the full discounted price on that...

Yeah, there'll be the inevitable flippers, but I suspect the price rise will be a paper one for many current owners... They wear extremely nice, can't imagine selling either of mine.

The startling news that the Valjoux 72 was used in watches other than the Daytona has apparently broken among Rolex fans. Sherpagraphs, V72 Compaxes and Carreras are spiking as a result. Now the rest of us know what it feels like to be standing between Chinese tourists and the Louis Vuitton store.

nice LouS, that is a good one. funny thing though. I have always liked the watch and kept it around for wearing once in awhile. What got me looking at current values was that i figured I would see if I could sell it for enough to pick up a decent condition daily wear vintage speedmaster. You can imagine my surprise when I learned I could get two or three of them. Now I am looking at some of the other watches I have had my eye on for awhile that I had not wanted to shell out the cash for.
