Some years ago I purchased a Panerai watch from a well known international bricks and mortar seller. What arrived was a different watch worth well over double the value of my purchase. I was honest and the watch was shipped back the next day. Things do happen. Hope this works out OP

Have a similar story. I bought a relatively inexpensive Technos watch on eBay from a seller in Thailand. Seller enters the tracking number to eBay and after a week or so, the package shows up as having been delivered to a place about 1,000 miles away.

I contacted the seller and he provided me a copy of his postal receipt. Of course, it was all in Thai, except for a the name of a woman with a rather unusual last name.

Next, contacted eBay to start the refund process. I kind of wanted the watch, so knowing the city, state and name of the person to whom the watch was delivered, I was able to find her business email. I wrote her a email and she said she was waiting for a $2 item. I then provided her with the listing info, the receipt and tracking number, she was more than happy to forward the watch to me. She refused my offer of postage reimbursement, even when I told her that either eBay or the seller would cover it.

I reversed the reversal of eBay charges and everyone was happy. Moral of the story, try to find out from the seller who actually got the watch and try to work out the logistics.

I had a similar situation last winter. I got someone else's watch part. They got mine. The package was actually addressed to the other person, the international shipping label and postage was swapped. The other person raised the issue with eBay. I did not but I did send the package onto the other person. Eventually once they had tracking they sent me mine.

Currently I am dealing with a non shipment. Seller did not respond to a combined shipping request. I paid anyway as I really need the 505 pallet fork. After a week I got a tracking number and one shipping charge refunded. USPS is not indicating the package was ever received.

Seller does not respond to update inquiry. Or any communication. Has good feedback and advertises local pickup. A week later I asked eBay to intervene. Now I have to wait at least another week. Really all I want is the part. Not sure why they can not be bothered to answer polite inquires as to what happening on their end? The seller has more of the same part listed, and I was thinking of buying a spare while I still can down the road. If the part was stolen from the Post office, then eBay Should refund the seller and the seller should ship the part? Or is that asking to much.

I noticed an article relating to eBay stock price, comparing it to Amazon. It really is not so much an auction house anymore. The system seems to think that all goods are the same. That one is purchasing what ever fad product is trending.

Not sure what the alternatives are. I am too lazy to track down Dead watchmaker estates.

And the predictable if not altogether satisfying conclusion; Seller went silent & eBay refunded the purchase.

Would have preferred to have actually received the watch, but then this would have required a seller who's not dumber than a bag of dirt...

So, how much were they able to steal from Ebay? Enough for a nice vacation?

No way of knowing what the real story is, but if the seller mixed up the 2 outgoing shipping labels then he's basically given away the Bvlgari watch in exchange for the price of a pair of used shoes.

I'm out nothing (other than the lost opportunity on the watch purchase), eBay or the seller is out the cost of return shipping, seller is out the watch, & shoe-guy is walking around barefoot with a Bvlgari on his wrist.

In my highly speculative scenario, his buddy got the watch, the seller got your money, and Ebay reimbursed you.

Who knows in this "Best Of All Possible Worlds" in which we live.

It works only if you are dealing with reasonable people. And that may not always be the case...

Once upon a time in the mid-2000s, as I was still in the early stage of my watch journey, I had won an eBay auction for a chronograph from a seller in Argentina. Usually, I would have steered clear from this type of provenance, but the timepiece in question was just too interesting to me to ignore. It was a rare Venezuelan Air Force issued Orfina Porsche Design, and my crippling Lemania 5100 addiction made me ignore the risks involved. It's after the auction that I really got nervous, but after about 3 weeks a package finally showed up at my door.

Upon opening the box, I found inside... a gold Eterna dress watch. The seller ended up being quite nonchalant about his mistake and gave me the contact details of the buyer who mistakenly got my watch instead of his Eterna. This gentleman was in New York, and I was in France, so the logistics were a bit complex but far from insurmountable. I spoke with him, and everything seemed fine until he stalled the exchange process because he wanted advance payment from the seller for shipping my watch to France. Problem was that, based on his word, I had already sent him the Eterna. And as I was becoming more and more insistent that he sent me my watch, he apparently became convinced that I was in cahoots with the seller and trying to scam him somehow.

This whole sorry episode ended with me dragging this guy to court from across the Atlantic. I hired a New York based lawyer, and had her open a case at the small-claims court. And yes, this actually cost me more than what I ultimately got back once a US Judge finally ruled in my favor, but it was a matter of principle. But almost 20 years later, I still wonder what happened to my Orfina...

My own dealings with an eBay 'Idiot' ended predictably.

I really wanted the part. Seller has two more listed.

I left negative feedback. In looking at other feedback it seems eBay refunded others for non shipment. Others say seller never responds to DM messages. Always read the feedback, even when positive.

I ordered other things from this goof off. Filed claims on them as well.

They list a physical store in Hollywood FL. Wonder if it is really there?

I was prepared to spend some real $$$ as there are interesting things offered.

The is no end to stupidity, I tried to buy something on Gumtree recently (non watch related) the seller sent me an email address to use to pay via PayPal with, I pay immediately and soon after the seller sends me a Paypal link for payment, I informed them that I'd already paid as per their instructions.
They then accuse me of being a scammer, I tell them to stick it up their arse and cancel the Paypal payment!
What a fuckwit!

The shoe buyer should be happier than a dog with 2 dicks!
I nearly spit my drink across the room!

Sorry for all your trouble @WestCoastTime ! I went through something similar around Christmas. I ended up sending the obvious thing I didn鈥檛 buy back to the seller and I got a refund. eBay was definitely involved in the transaction to get it right鈥nd I never received the watch I wanted.

To salve the disappointment of missing out on the Bvlgari, I feel like the only reasonable course of action is to now spend the whole weekend revenge-shopping for some other old watch to buy instead...

I got 2 dicks!

Well to be honest its just 2 different modes.

Well to be totally honest only 1 mode is functioning properly these days, maybe that`s why I`m not as happy as a dog with 2 dick?

On a less "do not need to know" basis, I am happy the OP got his reimbursement.
