Ebay 145.022 Speedy Advice

Looking at an ebay listing for a '69 145.022 and in search of advice. The watch is in need of some work to get it wrist ready. But my wallet is not really in the position of looking for a excellent/highly desirable example. Something that I can wear on a semi-daily basis and not worry about the occasional bump or bruise from office life is what I'm looking for. Original bracelet is not of a concern to me either. So at face value this watch seems like it could fit the bill with a bit of rehab. Missing pusher button seems pretty easy to take care of, but the missing crown is more of a concern. Looks from the photos like the stem may actually be broken off. Will a movement replacement be needed to restore functionality? Just looking for feedback from more experienced members to make sure I'm not getting in over my head. Also note the serial number appears to match the '69 year per Speedmaster101. And the odd/unique 220 bezel. And the case brushing appears quite intact. Photos below. Thanks.

Hi, you would be better uploading some photos rather than a link to just one, also how much is it?

Had some trouble figuring out the embedding procedure but at least there are some photos to see now. Currently the auction is at 2300 USD. I'd not be keen on going over $3k for this assuming it'll take $1000 investment to get it functional/wearable.

Could be a nice beater but would recommend a service while the crown & pusher are fitted - it’s difficult to see but is that rust or water damage around the inside of the bezel around the bottom half?

Good point. It does look a bit brown down there. It's also up to $2650 with 2.5 days left in auction so could very well end up out of my investment comfort level given the condition.

Rust/ corrosion inside also. Agree I would not pay over 3k including commision.

I doubt that you will get it for $3k. The pusher and crown are easy fixes.

I accept that I'm at a disadvantage lacking DIY watchmaking skills to avoid taking to a pro for repairs. I'm sure there are plenty that could self perform and get a better ROI. And also have a better comfort level with the risk of an ebay auction with marginal photos.

Sorry I wasn't clear, my point was just that a crown and pusher can be found. I was not suggesting that you should do the work yourself. The listing seems to include a 1175 bracelet with 47 end-links, which is nice. Yes it will probably need a service, but that's a standard cost. I just don't see it going for $3k. Just think about the value of the parts.

Final sale price $4450.
high based on those pictures....

Sure the case looks sharp.. but the pictures are junk. It is a correct 220 though, but I did not check against the serial number.

The photos in the listing are high resolution, good enough IMO. TBH, the main issue with the watch is the dark lume. If you don't mind that, it's not a bad piece. Nice error bezel, 1175/47 bracelet.

The images are high enough quality. They were just uploaded to the forum using third party postimg.cc and the thumbnails suck. If you click on them, you get better quality. For example, the first image

You’re right that it’s not great but even with that pic, I knew this wasn’t going to be a 3k watch as per the OPs hopes. There will always be people willing to gamble on sub par pics.
