My 343 in a 2576 case.

Case is nothing near, beefy lugs and leaf hands? To me, it still is a product of imagination.
Is this what Hoi is looking for?

Very nice. 12.1m serial is nearer 1950 though, not one of the very first SMs. 1948 would be more like 11.5m

The Seamaster in your first post look just like mine. Only on mine the text Seamaster is written on the dial.

Hi @hoipolloi

the one in the left does exist ( model ) . I saw one once at on my watch makers bench . I begged him to ask owner to sell it to me but it was a family watch and was not for sale , that was back in 1994 .

good hunting
Bill
Ps never seen another except at Bienne.

I just acquired an OJ 2518 last month, Bill.

It's at my watchmaker's now for servicing and crown replacement.

Cordially,

Art

A few 2576 cases came with fat lugs. So I suppose it is possible for a 343 to exist with a similar case with non-lume dial and hands.

What I find interesting is that this dial was stamped three separate times... once for "Omega Automatic", another for "Chronometre", and last for "Seamaster".

This sort of thing wasn't uncommon with both cal. 333 and cal. 343 subdial omega chronometres.

I have a rotor Seamaster where the Seamaster was added... with the alignment off.
