So (& yes I know it's technically an inquiry, bear with me I'm new 😀 ) if a "omega watch" has the Omega triangle and 18k 750 on the outside of the back cover it's a fake? Like the one on the previous page?

I’ll take a stab at this- yes.
All identifying marks should be on the inside back cover, but some countries would put a proof mark under one of the lugs (I think Portugal did this among others).

There is a particularly prolific faker somewhere whose watches ended up in the NE USA who was spreading a lot of these about ten years ago. They were designed to fool anyone scared of prying off the back. They all said 750 with the fake Omega mark squiggly line within a triangle and often it looked as if it was partially worn down, - unevenly. I think you were supposed to think that if the gold was worn down that much, it would have gone through the plating, - so it must be genuine 18ct gold.

Sometimes, just to be extra-convincing, the ultra-cheapo pin pallet movement was marked Constellation along with some generic sounding "xxxx Watch Co".

Sorry, I cant remember the name, when I was looking at it, I was too concerned with containing my laughter at the concept of anyone being convinced by it!

Actually, the Portuguese customs authorities aren’t particularly discriminating about where they place their stamp. I have a 1950 Omega 2612 with a Portuguese customs stamp placed squarely on the top side of the upper left lug. It’s very small, but it’s there.

Ug, that’s one lazy-ass customs officer who couldn’t be bothered to flip the watch over.🙄

Lol, true. Actually, when you view the watch as a whole - as seen in this photo - it's very small and barely noticeable. I've seen lots of normal wear and tear dings and scratches that are much more prominent. I prefer to think of it as “character” that makes the watch more collectible. 🙄

It snot just one stamp they have got. Often the Omega mark looks more like a squiggle. (Or maybe the stamps keep wearing out from overuse?)

Luckily one would need to be incredibly stupid to be taken in by that "Seamaster"! Scrap? One wonders if his wife was that stupid as well, when he gave it to her? Surely no one could be that dumb as to think they could buy it for scrap at such a ridiculous price?

There again, people could be so dumb. I remember when gold ballooned from $32.50 an oz up to $800. I encountered a friend on 47th St who had just bought a bag of movements from a scrap dealer for $300. Included was, for example, a Patek perpetual calendar from 1940! Back in those days, you could buy an original case from Geneva: It cost $20,000 and he had ordered it on the way out of the scrap dealer's shop!

Speedmaster automatic - sweep hand is the second hand and the second subdial jumps by 15 seconds wen first pusher is pressed.

Risking being pilloried by the purists but it is attractive in an odd, superficial, way. Claims that it is a 'genuine' Omega Seamaster dial. My experience is limited but I've searched for a dial reference here, there and everywhere for an exact reference, with no success. Genuinely interested....advice welcomed.
