fake hands, bezel, case, caseback

 

It's like Whack-A-Mole with these

 

Weird dial (MYO instead of MOY) and weird case number 1685415. Didn't find the reference number anywhere on OF nor on Desmond's blog.

 

Redial does not equal fake.

 

Ok fair enough, but what about the case number? (taking the risk of being told off by asking a question in here)

Although this is not the place for questions and just posting known fakes (some members are sticklers on that), and a separate thread would be more appropriate to gain education- I feel your question is in earnest so will quickly address it.
I am not an expert on these but from what I have gleaned here on the forum is that it was not uncommon for Omega to ship movements with dials/hands to a country that had extreme import duties on precious metals to have them cased in that country. In this case, it's an English made gold case made to Omega specs. As the case makers varied from country to country- so can the markings- but they are very much correct for the watch and were sold through an Omega dealer.

 

Thank you @JwRosenthal for your comment. I googled the case number, searched here on OF and case and calibre matcher on Desmond's blog. Couldn't find any reference so I thought it was a well made fake and useful for other members to see. Apparently I was wrong. Anyhow, I will start a separate thread in the future. Thank you again for taking the time.

 

It could very well be a fake (although the markings and hallmarks look legit to me, but as I said, these aren't my wheelhouse so I wouldn't be comfortable making a claim either way)- but for the purposes of this thread- we try to only post here as a cautionary if we know for sure that it is a fake.

 

The watch is NOT fake.

Not 100% sure if this passes the bar for "fake," but the movement is a Lemania 1873 that's been prepped to look like a genuine Omega movement. The other parts look okay though.
