Noticed earlier today some unknown activity on our bank account, having experienced problems a while back I asked the love of my life if she knew what it was ?
Wish I had kept my mouth shut, knowing that I have a thing for some Russian watches it turns out she has bought me this Slava which should not be far away 🥰

My wife wears a nice sports car on her ring finger AND I got her a Rolex for her 40th, (because in her mind a proper watch is a Rolex).

That's def 100% correct, to many/most/all women, it's Rolex or nothing. Why is that?
If we dudes wear a watch to a club to get attention, don't bother with Patek, Lange, Tag, or anything else for that matter.

My wife lives with my watches for 20+ years. She will only recognize Rolex. As a matter of fact, she bought me my Breitling before marriage, because I was drooling over it. In hindsight, had I listened to her to get a freaking PN Daytona in 1999, we could have paid off the house.
I answered my own question. Move on...

My wife is oblivious to most of my hobbies, I get a watch, she kind of looks at it. She is not a watch person, I tried over the years to no avail.

My wife is almost oblivious to my watch hobby. She only says something if the package arrives while she is at home. It's "what did you get?" and then when I say "just another watch" she replies "OK - another one?" then drops it. Luckily she never asks how much I spend.

More or less like my wife, she is used to it. Leave in the morning, show up in the afternoon with a new truck. She is like you bought a “truck” me yeah she; ah whatever

Before kids, tolerant. After kids, nope. demands that I sell something if something else is coming in.

"I do not want this many unworn watches in the house! You still gonna buy _______? okay then you better get rid of something"

My girlfriend likes to wear my watches though ‍♂️

My apologies in advance for the thread drift but I am starting to feel a bit self conscious. I see your better half wearing her watch on her right hand which most times indicates she is left handed. I too am left handed but wear my watch on my left hand.

When I say Left handed I mean I am 100% Left with my right hand being a dead weight I carry around. All my children are left handed too, my eldest daughter does not wear a watch but is 100% left, my early teen's son 😀:facepalm2:😀 is a false lefty, he writes with his left but does everything like a right hander including kicking a football and playing golf so wears his watch on the left hand. Finally my youngest daughter is also 100% left and likes to wear her watch on her right hand.

I understand it was important back in the day before computer keyboards when everything was hand written, but what about today ? I remove my speedy to wind it like I assume 99% of all speedy wearers, or have I got that wrong also ?

All four of us drive right handed wife/mom mad because we set glasses, napkins and everything to be reached for with a lefthand person in mind.

I didn't want to hijack the thread but I am very curious.

Ias your son, I'm also a false left-handed, I call it improved left-handed 😀
Write left, wear my watch on my left wrist, play guitar as lefty but play badminton/squash with my right hand.

I guess my artistic side is well connected to my logical side 😀

I feel very fortunate in that my wife developed an interest in watches because of me. She used to simply think it was a cute hobby but now she’s gotten into it and encourages me to add to my collection. Now she is even able to wrist spot both brands and references. In my books it’s a really nice feeling when your partner is on board with any of your interests.

Too far is right. I wake up one morning and hey, where's the 2179 that was on my desk last night. Wife comes home from her shift (she's an RN) and has it on - I'm like baby, what the heck - you just wore a $1,000 watch of mine to work. She says oh, I liked the dial and it seems easy to check pulse with this one, so I put it on. I let out a big sigh and said - you took it off when you washed up - right. Luckily she said yes. I say look, if you like it wear this 2384 instead - a little bit more beat up and not as valuable. Now I make sure I buy her watches for her so she stops taking my stuff . . .

My better half tolerates my obsession with a smile. I happened to receive a new watch today, gifted to me from my brother (story to be saved for a later post), and showed her both on my wrist. So, which do you like better, pointing out the Omega Speedmaster, first Omega in Space, and the Smiths Everest, a beautiful tool watch from England - most likely first to Antarctica. She calmly stated "oh another nice watch", furrowed her brow, smiled and said "of course I love the Omega, that's what dad wore while in the service in Germany". Did not say a word about just having just purchased a beautiful Seamaster 60 last week or the bounty of other watches obtained during lockdown, gawd I love this woman. 😁 👍

My wife is supportive of my watch collection as long as it's within my means.

I have also bought her some nice watches which she has always admired like Cartier Tank and DJ ladies.

I hope to eventually buy her a Aquanaut or a nautilus.

My wife is very supporting of my hobby. Eventually it is my money, but she trusts that I will be reasonable 😗. Seriously i will only buy within my means. Watches are not investment, but they are still an asset which you can sell or pass to your children.

I would not say my wife is "supportive" as I think she knows me well and dare not pushing me to go beyond the limits I most often faint not to see 😀

But she always has a nice comment when I receive one.

But I'm only starting... Just got 5. And she started to make a strange face 😒 last week when I ordered one, and told her that I was also looking at another one at the same time (Not my fault : I saw it after ordering another 😀)

And my nearly 4 years old son is now into it, like :"When I will be a grown up I'll have nice watch like you" 😗. So I'm putting up my numbers !

So I believe I will try to buy her into it and look for a nice one for her.::facepalm1::

My wife is largely neutral. However, when I started selling my collection - she pointed out the ones I liked and suggested that I keep them. What a wonderful human being.

Today, I came back from Melbourne with all the watches I have been collecting since the late 1990s.

Now, my wife has never really been interested in wearing any of the watches that I have had, from vintage Longines to a JLC master geographic and others in between. I can't remember her ever wearing a watch - her work requires to the second precision.

Anyway, she picked this up and put it on this evening. Not sure if it is a 6651 or a 431. Original bracelet too.
