Entering the second week of a 2-week-long cross-country move, with all of my belongings on a truck until Friday and living in a business hotel, I am very happy to have my 105.003 as it's one of the few fun things I could bring with me. Keeps awesome time too, it's a companion I'm very grateful to have!

Good luck with that. Can be very stressful. Not as stressful as a bent watch hand tip, but stressful nonetheless.

It's a parody of a fanboy member's lovefest with his life-extending, most bestest Omega watch in the whole wide world.

Dennis wins the prize.

Truth be told, it was perhaps an overly-veiled attempt to bring the recent life-affirming Omega posts to the ridiculous, but some of the responses have been heartfelt and interesting, a completely unanticipated and enjoyable resultant.

Be careful though - you might incur the Wrath of Al for lampooning a Speedmaster Fanboy. On the other side of the coin, you might get away with it. Despite a couple other members poking fun at our grail-smitten Speedy boy, I was the only one to receive admonishing from Al.

By the way, the subject of your roast posted another thread proclaiming his never ending love for his Maddox a couple days ago. So many people were sick of the repetitive gushing that a moderator (not me, for I'd be accused, tried, and convicted of anti-Speedmaster bias) deleted it.

At the end of the day, as you do, I think everyone should be a able to take a little poke in the ribs regarding our mutual interest. This includes the gushers, the ones fed-up with the gushing, and all in between.

Well, I don't know about all that but watch collecting (and reading about them etc.) has a been a useful and welcome distraction during a particularly dark period of my life. So yeah, kinda.

Speaking of being repetitive...you are the master of that. Therein lies the answer to the questions you seek, my furry little friend...😀

BTW can I take this opportunity to steer away from the destructive path likely to follow, and nominate a new squirrel to the lexicon? For that watch you bought with fuzzy pictures that doesn't end up being a score, I present:

The Mangy Squirrel of Disappointment...taken on my own back deck no less.

For your consideration...

Cheers, Al

I'm only using the same behavior that the Speedmaster Fanboys exhibit. The answer to every watch question is "Speedmaster" to them. They're the true masters of repetition. They're brainwashed, which makes it easy to preach the virtues of the Speedy to the unenlightened.

If you substitute "Speed Mas Ter" for "Im Ho Tep" in the first 25 seconds of this scene you'll have the gist of it:

Well so much for the squirrel, eh?

Okay you win. Anyone who likes a Speedmaster, even if they have never suggested it in a thread asking for dress watch recommendations, most certainly deserves your scorn and continued harassing. You are my hero and are absolutely doing the right thing by making us all pay for comments made across a number of forums.

Cheers, Al

Enough chatter, you two. Have a few frosties, and settle this the old-fashioned way:

One day the tribes of connie, speedy, and masters of the sea will live together, not because of the color of their watches, but the content of their movements..

Out of respect to Foo2rama's request, I will avoid the "watch life-improvement" topic, and move on to something more simple and concrete.

So...has your Omega assisted you along on your spiritual journey? Has it been the key to easing your existential angst? Has it helped you, whilst milling around in the sea of humanity, to figure out why we have all been placed on this tiny little planet, in the midst of a vast universe, and what our mission is for the very short time we are here?

Please follow the link . . .

. . . for my take on the subject.

I would say in a way they contribute greatly to my quality of life by bringing me closer to people. Conversations often can be started with someone about their timepiece, and friendships formed. Isn't that ultimately what we are here for? To attempt to live harmoniously with others and make a few meaningful relationships along the way?

My wife bought me an Omega to time our love making. She now has proof on how lucky she is.

This is all thanks to my wonderful time piece and the seconds function which is visible in the dark......

Very nicely done. Exemplifies how this is really not a watch hobby, it's a people hobby, and watches are the vehicles.
