Where's your Omega watch?

Hello, friends of the Omega forum!😀

My fate with Omega began with a skiing vacation⛷️. In the rest area at the foot of the snow-capped mountains, a ski enthusiast took off his gloves and adjusted his ski equipment. The Omega watch on his wrist was particularly eye-catching against the backdrop of the white snow. The tough appearance, coupled with the deep blue dial, seemed to exude a sense of power that is not afraid of challenges.

At that moment, I was deeply attracted. After that, I looked up information and learned about Omega's excellent watchmaking technology and glorious history. Although I haven't owned it yet, I can't wait.🤩

I came to the forum and hope to exchange experiences with you, learn about purchase and maintenance knowledge, and start a wonderful journey with Omega as soon as possible.😊

What was your first Omega watch?🙌

Hi, and welcome to OF.
I used to walk past a shop in The Strand (London), now closed, and covet the various vintage Omega, unaffordable to me, on display.
Then I discovered eBay and a whole new world was discovered ….

This was my first (now sold) but I still wear the 136.041

Welcome. One exactly like this one was my first in 1987. Took me three months to actually buy it after love at first sight. Had to sell it in the early 2000s, but managed to find this one a couple years ago. I have seven Omegas now, speedmaster moonwatch heavy with 4 variations.

If I recall correctly, this was my first Omega. Friends of my spouse were divesting themselves of a few treasures their family had no interest in, including two watches. This one, and an 18-karat gold one on an 18-karat gold bracelet. They were both mine, gratis, if I wanted them. I declined the gold one as I considered the offer as being foolish. If the family didn’t want the watch, they could dump it to a gold buyer. I accepted this one. The dial has been very badly refinished, but otherwise its condition is good. S# list tells me it is from circa 1951, so close to 75 years old. Case model # 2496, movement calibre 283. Matter of fact, I think I’ll wear it today.

Hello, Yee! Welcome to the Forum!

My wife gave me a gift which changed my world completely, a watch that was the most beautiful (non-living) thing I'd ever seen...

That was ten years ago.

Today I'm wearing a 58-year old Omega...

...and this is a new addition to my collection, maybe the same model you saw on the ski slope.

I hope you find your first Omega soon!

My golf buddy wears a vintage Omega on beads of rice which got me interested about 15 years ago. Here's my first, one of my favorites and what I've been wearing since Xmas. I have about 10 now. Haven't been able to bring myself to sell any though. I bet that's a common problem.

Welcome to the forum. My first was an Omega SMP300, bought new in 2016, still have it, just serviced, no intention of selling anytime soon. It is one of 6 Omegas I now have, two modern, 4 vintage.

Hi @Yee and welcome to Omega forums.

My first Omega was this 18k Geneve. It was my mothers father retirement watch. I got it when he died 50 years ago. Luckily I did not use it back then so its still in good condition, and its my dress watch for special occations.
My second is this Seamaster 2254.50 that I bought used some years ago and its seldom of my wrist. Fantastic watch!

Hi and welcome
My first Omega watch was this Omega Seamaster Cosmic ref. 166.036
I liked the black and white dial and the applied Omega logo on the dial.
Remember always to enjoy the hunt for the next watch.

Hello @Yee and welcome.

My father’s Constellation seen on his left wrist, on my shoulder on fishing boat in 1974.

And on my wrist 50 years later

I didn't much like the first couple of Omegas I bought (I don't have photos, but I think they were uninteresting 1960s SMDV or Geneve or some such) and so began to focus more on other brands. Eventually I found this nice 2639, so I didn't lose interest in Omega completely and eventually found niches that I really appreciate. I have to say that the 2639/2640 references remain among my favorites and very under-rated, as most people seem to gravitate towards Seamasters.

Welcome to the forum!

My first Omega is the one I received from my wife on our 10th wedding anniversary. It began a search to find out a bit about its history and age which resulted in a whole new hobby and me joining this forum.

That’s a handsome watch

My first Omega, and first fancy watch, was this ‘61 Omega that I bought to celebrate a promotion at work. The bracelet was added later and bought through this forum

Welcome to the forum mate.

Did you use one of those AI things to help with your first post?
(just askin', no fence meant).

Here is a pic of the first Omega I bought with my first pay packet, well not the exact one, that went in a poker game (or was it a hock shop) a few years later.

this was my first Omega....It was my father's, I liberated it when I left home after high school. Dennison cased 342 bumper inside. Family legend is that my grandfather brought it back from Europe as a souvenir from WW2. hallmarks and serial number say not.
first Omega purchased (later image from the dennis days)

joined OF while doing some research after I bought a Wandolec LE. :whipped:

Deffo AI. His other thread reads like an ebay generated listing too. I note the AI bots generate threads but never answer questions.

You're right. It's dead obvious in his other thread comparing Seamasters and Speedmasters.
